Speedy deletion nomination of Imlee edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Imlee, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Dewritech (talk) 13:06, 22 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Imlee edit

Thanks for your note on my talk page. I have asked Peridon to restore the article into a private space (not part of the encyclopedia) so that I can take a look at it and advise you. --MelanieN (talk) 14:43, 24 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

P.S. I don't know what "Imlee" referred to, but I did a Google search for the name. The only thing I found was a restaurant in Pinecrest, Florida. If that is what your article was about, I suspect it will not pass the notability test, which you should read. Most local restaurants do not qualify for articles here. --MelanieN (talk) 14:59, 24 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Peridon has restored the article to your userspace where we can look at it. It is here: User:Mansi2988/Imlee. I'll take a look over the next day or two. --MelanieN (talk) 18:24, 26 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

OK, here's the deal. Even before we try to improve the article by editing, we need to figure out if the subject actually qualifies for an article here. There are criteria at Wikipedia, there can't be articles about just anything; the subject has to be notable enough for inclusion in an international encyclopedia. Whether something is notable or not is based on a simple test: has the subject received substantial coverage from multiple independent reliable sources? A "reliable source" is something like a mainstream newspaper; an "independent source" is a source with no connection with the subject (unlike, say, a press release). For a network like Imlee, the criteria can be found at WP:WEB or WP:CORP.

I have looked at the sources in your draft article, and I have also spent some time searching Google and Google News for sources. I'm sorry to say that I don't think Imlee is ready for an article at this time. There is one reference that I think meets the criteria, namely the one from Yahoo News, but it's the only one I could find. The "Yourstory" link is the actually the same item as the Yahoo story, and the others do not appear to be from Reliable Sources as Wikipedia defines them. So my advice is to drop the idea of a Wikipedia article for now. The company is very young, only a year old, so it's possible that more will be written about it in the future, and it could be considered notable then. But right now, I think any article about Imlee would get deleted.

I know you are going to say "but what about other networks like Zomato"? If you look at the Zomato article, you will see references from the Business Standard, the Indian Express, the Economic Times, etc. - those are Reliable Sources. At this point we don't have comparable references for Imlee.

Sorry for the unfavorable opinion. Of course I am just one person and you are welcome to ask others to look at your draft. But I suspect you are going to get the same reaction from any experienced Wikipedia editor. --MelanieN (talk) 00:16, 27 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for understanding. You can keep the draft in your userspace for as long as you like; no one will hassle you about it or try to delete it. As additional sources become available you can add them, and when you think it is ready for another look, ping me or Peridon. --MelanieN (talk) 21:54, 29 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
