Nomination of Néstor Barron for deletion

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Néstor Barron is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

Your comment to me at the AFD for the Néstor Barron article deserves a response. I believed the article should be deleted because the article was written in a promotional tone and the subject of the article did not meet Wikipedia's notability criteria for musicians or the notability criteria for writers/poets. Néstor Barron is a poet and a musician so an article about him should meet the rules covered in one of those sets of notability guidelines. On Wikipedia, topic is presumed to merit an article if:
  1. It meets either the general notability guideline, or the criteria outlined in a subject-specific guideline; and
  2. It is not excluded under the What Wikipedia is not policy.
This is not to say that topics that don't meet those guidelines are not important. Often they are. They are simply not notable for Wikipedia (at the time).
You can choose to try to undelete the article and work on it in your user space until the article meets notability criteria. This is a well-described process but please let me know if you could use a hand. Cheers! - tucoxn\talk 15:50, 26 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
