Sandbox/TimmisSpring

When the OCR (Optical Character Recognition) errors are fixed, and sense is make of the patentapplicationese gobblegook, then an improved version of Sandbox/TimmisSpring might go into the main article Timmis system. IMHO, this is a good and sensible use of the sandbox system. For the moment I think that it is best to keep the sandbox part separate. Tabletop (talk) 08:21, 5 October 2014 (UTC)

Tabletop, what I was wondering about is that you have created a Wikipedia article titled Sandbox/TimmisSpring rather than a sub-page on your user space which would serve the same purpose as a sandbox. I just wondered if this was a mistake, as it seemed like a temporary being-worked-on page that ought to be in userspace rather than main article space. Mabalu (talk) 00:38, 6 October 2014 (UTC)
If you look closely, there is also a User:Tabletop/TimmisSpring, which is a less developed re-editing of the Patent Application.

The main piece of useful text says: "invented certain new and useful Improvements in Coiled Steel Springs". Tabletop (talk) 10:55, 9 October 2014 (UTC)

PLEASE HELP ME!

I don't know who else to turn to. The I.S.I.L. (Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant) page has always had the 2014 establishment date for the UNRECOGNIZED COUNTRY. This is because prior to this date, the group qualified as an insurgency, as it either did not have an established territory, or it was working for or with another group (Al Qaeda or the Syrian Opposition), which meant that they qualified as an insurgency, not a country (like the Caucasus Emirate). To clarify this, I added multiple sources to the article, and I wrote a long, detailed explanation on the talk page. That appeared to be the end of it. As long as that explanation was on the talk page, the 2014 date was left alone. Now it appears that someone deleted not only my explanation, but the entire discussion regarding this issue, and are now acting like the discussion never happened. A new discussion has been added by a new group of users who seem to be unaware that the matter was resolved, or they maybe behind the disappearance of the explanation. I've already checked the archives for that page, and I can't find it, so that seems to rule that out. The only friend I seem to have on this wiki is someone called Mitsukorina, who has now been accused of being me using a different account. All I did on this page was try to protect sourced information, but due to previous issues involving unsourced contributions, I've lost my reputation on this wiki. I have long since done my best to correct my errors of the past, but the damage is done. I don't know what else to do. Please help me. Toolen (talk) 16:18, 15 October 2014 (UTC)

Hi Toolen - I'm really sorry but I have no clue where even to begin with this. This is way outside my experience so I'm going to hold up my hands and say I can't help, sorry. Mabalu (talk) 16:40, 15 October 2014 (UTC)

Red Tarvydas dress of Rebecca Twigley

I thought I should go ahead and create White shift dress of Jean Shrimpton. You may wish to expand it (even if you don't, I intend to do so). I have in mind nominating it for a DYK appearance on this year's Derby Day. Bahnfrend (talk) 16:23, 17 October 2014 (UTC)

That definitely was an influential and controversial dress. I'll keep an eye on it - there was a lot of press and a lot of ongoing talk about it and continues to be in fashion history publications, so while I wouldn't have rushed to create it myself I'll definitely monitor it. :) Mabalu (talk) 16:42, 17 October 2014 (UTC)

Draped Turban and Breton (hat)

Thanks for the improvements Mabalu, I was going a bit cross-eyed deciding what was a turban and what wasn't. In the same vein, would you take a look at Breton (hat) when you get a moment and see if my hats look right. Again, I found it tricky finding images and really good examples – Mia Farrow in Rosemary's Baby and Jean Shrimpton at Melbourne Races (meet after she got told off for that dress above) – don't seem to be freely available. You may know of better examples than I've chosen from other articles. Thanks. Libby norman (talk) 20:45, 29 October 2014 (UTC)

Cross wiki issue

Hey Mabalu, I have been informed on my French talk page of a massive cross wiki spam, with the replacement of the 'big four' fashion capitals by an alleged notion of the 'big five' including Berlin, based on a single questionable source (see my talk page and my last contributions). Your third opinion on the related articles would be most welcome, as well here as on other projects where you feel comfortable. Thanks, — Racconish ✉ 09:29, 30 October 2014 (UTC)
