Welcome edit

Hello, MPeggyQ, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I notice that one of the first articles you edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been reverted for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of deletion, you might like to draft your article before submission, then ask me or any other editor to proofread it. To start creating a draft article, just click your user name at the top of the screen when you are logged in, and edit that page as you would any other. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

The one firm rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. It is also worth noting that Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which specifically link them to one company or corporation. If your username does have such a name, it would be advisable for you to request a change of username.

If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! You can also just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! SarekOfVulcan (talk) 22:18, 4 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Helpme edit

Sure, what's up? --SarekOfVulcan (talk) 22:24, 4 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Oh my... I'm sorry for all this. i wanted to put Reggae Report magazine on Wikipedia because it is a pillar of the Reggae business and community--from 1983 to 1998 it led the way to Reggae recognition. How can I have the article posted so there is no conflict? It's gone now, what i wrote, is it possible to get it back? Your help is greatly appreciated.
It's not gone, it's just moved to Reggae Report. I removed the redirect from your userpage because it didn't seem useful. --SarekOfVulcan (talk) 22:37, 4 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
so is everything okay? it can stay? and i see that the magazine cover is reversed! like a negative... can i rectify that? Thank you!
You don't need to use {{helpme}} every time, and you definitely don't need it on my page. :-) In any case, at first glance, it appears that you've included sufficient independent sourcing to establish the notability of the article, so I suspect it will be ok. I don't have the final word on that, of course -- the decision ultimately belongs to the community. I don't know what the problem with the magazine cover is, but it looked fine when I checked it earlier. I'll take a look at it later and see if there's still a problem. --SarekOfVulcan (talk) 22:53, 4 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

....ok thanks for the tips...i hope the community appreciates the subject matter... Reggae Report is a pillar in Reggae's history...i found the photo/cover thing odd too.. can't figure that one out...i just checked it again and it's still reversed... thanks again... Image edit

Ya, how are you taking/uploading these magazine covers? The new one is dark on the page. CTJF83 chat 19:50, 5 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

...the one with the large red banner has the wrong volume and issue number... so i'm trying to upload the correct one..the dark one, which is REGGAE_REPORT_VOL9_NO.4_1995_BOB MARLEY.. i made it smaller and changed the destination name by adding 'sm' after Bob Marley... but it doesn't seem i can do it. The cover with the large red banner is actually REGGAE_REPORT_VOL9_NO.4_1991_BOB_MARLEY01..So sorry... but i would like to correct either the title/caption for the Red banner, or add the correct small version of the dark one... MPeggyQ (talk) 19:58, 5 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
... I see that it's correct now... the dark one... thank you... ! MPeggyQ (talk) 19:59, 5 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
I kinda wanna find the root of why the images you upload come out dark? Are they dark on the computer, or only after you upload them? Also, just so you know, you can always add one : (colon) more then the previous post, and it indents it for you :) CTJF83 chat 20:03, 5 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
ok... thanks. the original one i tried to upload were too large (the dark one)... so i made it smaller, at a lower resolution...then it was suggested i save them as RGB not CYMK... so i think all of that added to the negative image effect. MPeggyQ (talk) 20:10, 5 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
I'm not sure what RGB/CYMK mean. All I did was open them in an external editing program, save it, and reupload it on here, and it fixed the darkness, so dunno what's going on. CTJF83 chat 20:13, 5 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
what external program did you open it with? MPeggyQ (talk) 20:24, 5 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
I might not have been clear, but you add one more colon then the previous comment :). http://pixlr.com/editor/ nice little basic image editor that doesn't require download. CTJF83 chat 20:30, 5 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
ok LOL think i got it now...such a newbie...you all are great... thanks so much for the help, tips, and support...love wikipedia! MPeggyQ (talk) 20:42, 5 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
OMG...now the words are in yellow... so sorry. don't know how that happened... MPeggyQ (talk) 20:43, 5 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
Gotcha covered! CTJF83 chat 20:45, 5 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
Thanks again...so appreciate it.. and thx for the editing link... i bookmarked it for future reference... so can photos be added to the reggae report page that are mine? i own them.. i am the photographer? historical pics to supplement the article? MPeggyQ (talk) 20:59, 5 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
Yes, you can pretty much freely upload free images that you own, and put them on any related page. CTJF83 chat 21:16, 5 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
