This article was deleted by a process called WP:Proposed deletion, where an article can be deleted if after seven days no-one has objected to the proposal. Articles deleted in that way are automatically restored on request, but may still be nominated at WP:Articles for deletion, which would start a debate lasting seven days to which you would be welcome to contribute.

The problem with the article as its stands is that, even though she did not write it herself, it is sourced entirely from her own website, a primary source, so that it amounts to the artist telling the world about herself - more like a LinkedIn or Facebook entry than an encyclopedia article, which should be based mainly on secondary sources (e.g. independent reviews). The policy on self-published sources like this is explained at WP:SELFPUB: they can be used, provided that "the article is not based primarily on such sources."

Also, Wikipedia has an inclusion criterion called Wikipedia:Notability, which is not a matter of opinion but has to be demonstrated by showing "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject." Significant means more than just listing-type mentions; reliable excludes Myspace, Facebook, blogs, places where anyone can post anything; independent excludes the subject's own website, affiliated ones like galleries selling her work, and anything based on press releases. The test is, have people not connected with the subject thought her significant enough to write substantial comment about? See also WP:ARTIST for an indication of the expected standard.

The links in the Welcome message above will tell you more about Wikipedia. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 20:23, 28 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
