Soldier settlement (Australia) edit

Hi Longhair, soldier settlement schemes directly influenced every state of Australia and have a direct link to irrigation commencement etc - and which were prevalent in the Merbein, Red Cliffs, Mildura areas (amongst many others). Until today there was no article on Wiki covering the topic. I have started it and have also suggested it to be a WP:ACOTF article - would welcome your support if you think that such an article is appropriate for a collaboration project? --VS talk...images 02:05, 25 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Leeds-Bradford edit

I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Leeds-Bradford, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Perth assessments edit

Re Perth articles - I assume they're being treated as WA assessments (as they should be)? For some reason the Perth project, despite its large membership, is all but defunct as anything more than an organisational system for separating capital-specific articles from those related to either the state as a whole or to country areas. Orderinchaos78 09:42, 22 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

If possible, the two should be counted together as WA, unless the situation presently in place radically changes. (Just my thoughts of course - others may disagree) Orderinchaos78 09:48, 22 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
Looks good to me :) Means we can rate things with respect to Perth for importance, but articles are counted under WA for FAs, GAs etc if I'm reading it correctly? Orderinchaos78 10:23, 22 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Cat issue edit

Hi, you might or might not have seen that I have been trawling through australian project categories finding little or no of the wp australia class=na thingy in them - but I have just come acrross a real humdinger (or should that be schwartz..) which is almost a full page of created sub categories which have maybe one or two articles per sub category. What would you do? Should I have good faith that someone will eventually populate them - should i tag them with needs populating - should I lead you to the page? I would be interested in a response, ta. SatuSuro 10:59, 6 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yes - you got it (sorry about long delay between messages - dads taxi extended this evening) - what would you do? SatuSuro 12:55, 6 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

I should explain (worth getting a cup of a hot drink before you read this, and archiving straight after reading it :)) )

With my tagging Indonesian project articles and cats - I am constantly aware of very low level stubs and short changed cats - that I tag wp indonesia, or the wp indonesia NA - and assume that there will come a crunch day to actually to put the issue to the project as a summary 'these cats are underpopped and need either amalgamting or cfd'ed, and trying to get some sense of what might have conceivable possibility of being populated at all' in a sub page of the project. However when i get to the Tas project - I find the sneakiest small articles and cats as well - which - I dont think I have been harsh enough - allowing for good faith for the very slow tas project to ever get momentum...)

(Decided to leave extensive issues re the Indonesian, Maritime History, West Australian and Tasmanian projects out for the moment - its gettting late - maybe its just a sip of the drink long rather than a full cup)

Well when I have been doing the recent x in australia stuff - and with the one that we know about - I dont have a problem with putting the underpop tag in each, and tagging them. what about that? If I do go to the notieboard my problem is i am off in a day or two for over a week and i wouldnt be able to back up or explain the process of tagging the cats to the less informed or less convinced ...SatuSuro 13:23, 6 April 2007 (UTC) Reply

Why is the deletion debate sorted out to fall into Australian deletion debates, not sports related deletion debate? Does the subject's claim to notability increases if he comes from Brisbane, than that he is a powerlifting champion and has trained world class athletes? Re: WP:AUS hierarchy edit

I noticed that discussion, and was thinking about it in the context of WP:ADEL. I have been considering reforming WP:ADEL into a WP:SA, as it would unsustainable to maintain both, and a need for WP:SA is becoming clearer. At the same time, it would be useful to retain Adelaide statistics for more focused editing. I'm not yet sure how we would integrate child (ADEL) statistics into the parent's (SA), whilst retaining the grandparent's (AUS). A possible crude hack might be to simply piggyback the parent's assessment categories on the child parameter. Thoughts?--cj | talk 15:51, 31 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Sunraysia edit

Well (and it's nice to change the subject to something more useful than above) I did manage to find a map that borders the area. I created an initial map/image for Mallee and Sunraysia (and adjusted after some useful comments from another editor) and that map - including references is up on both those pages (with some explanation on Talk Mallee). --VS talk 23:23, 4 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Euston was determined by the Riverina Committee to be the furthest southwest part of the Riverina. Because the southern boundry of the Riverina is the New South Wales side of the Murray River Euston just makes it - BUT given the divergence of areas such as the Sunraysia and the Riverina in Australian geography (for example some Hattah is in Sunraysia and The Mallee) IMHO Euston could easily be in both the Riverina and Sunraysia. Hope that answers your question?--VS talk 12:56, 5 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Will you be incorping the old ones (Hobart=yes, Tas=yes) at some stage, and did you have any further thoughts about the qld cat/subcat page? SatuSuro 12:06, 7 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Continual AfDs on Gordon Cheng edit

Hi Longhair - is there a rule about making AfDs continually until an article gets deleted? Gordon Cheng has already been nominated twice, and was only nominated this time as I kept removing the word "priest", which I have already explained on the talk page, is inaccurate with reference to the diocese that Gordon works in. Do you have any advice? JRG 00:58, 7 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Andy edit

Flloyd - all my memory of their early stuff is filed away in a part of my brain labelled - check with writtten refs only:) - yeah he has brought up an interesting issue - I hope he understands that the whole of the wa goeographical feature lists suffer under the same enormity SatuSuro 10:50, 7 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Nah - the wikipedia servers did some very things to the lack of matching watch page time and contributions page times yesterday, very odd - I thought it was the big Qld cat page of many subcats with only one or two in most - but I'm not rushed - very close to packing and being off anyways... maybe in a week or two! SatuSuro 12:11, 7 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
Not so easy - probably on tommorow as well - just to be a pain to friends and foes :) thanks for the best wishes anyways cheers SatuSuro 12:15, 7 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
BTW the talk page item between merbabu and matt57 might need watching :( SatuSuro 12:17, 7 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
Funny that - when i do the count - I am reminded of issues and people that I havent seen for about 10,000 edits or so :) SatuSuro 12:20, 7 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

rename a page edit

Sorry if I bother you, Longhair. Could you help me to rename the page "Communist Party of Italy (1921–1926)" to "Communist Party of Italy"? Could you explain me how to do? I tried to understand with the help instructions, but no way... I can't find the move button. Thank you. --Tompint 02:38, 8 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, Wikipedia is a very nice place to work. Today I found my move button. --Tompint 10:15, 8 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Victoria project edit

You should be thanked for that - there is now a sense of something - when it looks like that! - (could you possibly do the same for tassie?) - ... (just keeping my count up on your talk page :) ) SatuSuro 12:18, 8 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Very very interesting - do you consider editing by sockpuppets revertable on sight regardless of quality? (thats a trap - please dont answer) there has been an argument elsewhere on this - the legacy of errant editors leaves us an intriguing legacy :) SatuSuro 12:32, 8 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
Its one of the characters whom I sent an email about recently - a supporter has attempted to defend edits by a puppet - and the supporter has been quite adamant that despite banning and puppeting that the edits remain ! SatuSuro 12:41, 8 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
Bit more complicated about to email, sorry to bother...SatuSuro 12:46, 8 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
Probably my last for a week unless some clever person upsets me in the next hour or so :) cheers SatuSuro 12:49, 8 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
Its rather horrible - has gone to some rather wierd and wonderful corners , sigh SatuSuro 12:53, 8 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Mildura edit

Thanks for confirming that Mildura, Victoria is a "city". I used Mildura as an example where I butted in to the RFC on talk:Halifax, Nova Scotia (there's confusion about a Regional City LGA), but thought "locality" didn't sound right. Kind of embarrassing that we've both edited the article several times with "locality" in the lead. --Scott Davis Talk 13:03, 8 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Page Communist Party of Italy (1921-1926) edit

Yes Longhair, maybe I did something wrong... sorry, I'm still learning. The reason because I want to delete that page is that nobody will write the name of the Party with the date, so it's useless. After I did it, I read that just an administrator can erase a page, sorry.
I did also a correction of all the mistakes and confusion around, about Italian Communist Party and Communist Party of Italy. It looks like Monthy Python's Problem but it's more tragical then a simple name. The PCd'I changed name after the stalinisation of the International Communist. Most of the links to Communist Party of Italy were directed to Italian Communist Party; I believe in the good faith of people, but after the II world war, the official historian of Italian Communist Party did a big effort to change the history of that period which is almost forgot. This is a good reason to put this part of the history in an encyclopedia. Isn't it? cheers.--Tompint 13:17, 8 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

ah...something else...sorry if I take advantage of your kindness... How can I add a pop up menu in the page? see this for instance (Gli storici 10 punti su cui si formò il Partito Comunista d'Italia): http://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Partito_Comunista_d%27Italia

Unspecified source for Image:IdaBagusWiswantanu.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:IdaBagusWiswantanu.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 17:46, 9 April 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Angr 17:46, 9 April 2007 (UTC) Reply

Image:IdaBagusWiswantanu.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:IdaBagusWiswantanu.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Angr 17:46, 9 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Assessment of the Ford AU Falcon Article edit

Hello, I was wondering if you could please assess the Ford AU Falcon article for me. I have listed it on the 'current requests' article in WP: Australia (but I am very curious to what it will be rated at). Not to be rude or impatient, I am just very curious what it will be rated at. Melb project article stats edit

Hey Longhair, someone has asked on my talk page if we can update the article progress thing on the WikiProject Melbourne, but I have no idea how the statistics are calculated or even where the numbers come from and I was just wondering if you know and if so, would you mind updating it sometime? Maths wasn't my thing at school and I'm sure I would just stuff it up if I tried to work it out! No hurry or anything. Cheers mate, Sarah 06:09, 11 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Nevermind the above message, Longhair. I think it's been sorted. Thanks, Sarah 13:02, 11 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
