WHY HAVE I BEEN BLOCKED. edit

I logged on today and found out that I've been indefinitely blocked. I am not this person: (User:AdilBaguirov); I have never seen or heard of that person. I have emailed the administrator who blocked me (User:Alex Bakharev) twice now and have yet to even receive a response. So I am forced to request an unblocking to clear my name and so I can be reintegrated back into the wikipedia community. LoNdIuM   Speak to meContributions

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

My reasons for requesting an unblocking of a indefinite ban, are the following.

   * Firstly: I am not a sockpuppet of user:AdilBaguirov, I have never even heard of this person.
   * Secondly: I am not sure what I have done wrong? If I have been banned because of some of my edits then I think thats wrong. I came across this:Wikipedia:Please do not bite the newcomers, I feel that if I was blocked because of my edits, then why were there no warnings to me? I feel like I've been bitten hard!
   * Thirdly: If my edits are the cause of controversy then I apologise and if I am unblocked I will make sure I learn from my mistakes and avoid disputed articles. Can you see how I feel? I joined wikipedia less than a month ago, made some edits that I thought were perfectly fine, had absolutely no warnings and then I've been indefinitely blocked for being a suspected sockpuppet of a person that I have never heard of and I have been given zilch in terms of evidence for this accusation.
   * Fourthly: Can't you guys check my IP address? I'm from London and I'm British. I'm not Azerbaijanian and I have never been there, I have never even met an Azerbaijanian in my life. Can't an examination of my location and user:AdilBaguirov location tell you that I am not him.
   * Fifthly: How am I a sock puppet? I mean I've emailed the administrator who blocked me (User:Alex Bakharev) twice asking him why he thinks I'm a sock puppet (i.e. proof) and have yet to receive a response.
   * Sixthly: I think it was unfair to give me an indefinite block, straight away for being a "suspected" sockpuppet, without,
o A: Making any specific allegations in regards to how it was deduced that I am a sockpuppet.
o B: Telling me why I am a suspected sockpuppet and
o C: Giving me a chance to defend myself before a ban.

Also I even told User:Alex Bakharev that some anon IP removed the sockpuppet template from my talk page. Thank you for your time

Decline reason:

I have been in off-wiki discussion with the blocking admin and have carefully reviewed your contributions. There is absolutely no doubt that you have edited wikipedia before and are therefore a sockpuppet. the issue is whose. On the balance of probabilities I am also satisfied that you are also AdilBaguirov but I'm not going to go into the details of why I believe this because I don't want to make it easier for you to evade your ban again. Simply said, if you are not Adilbaguirov you are certainly someone's sock and its really down to you to prove its not you. — Spartaz Humbug! 17:33, 21 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

I have asked the blocking admin to comment. Please bear with us. Spartaz Humbug! 06:00, 21 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

I am not anyone's sock puppet. I apologize if I made edits that appeared to be sock puppetish, but I didn't realise this, one minute I was editing London and England based articles (specifically minorities of Britain articles) and then the next minute I get drawn to some Iranic and Turkic articles, it happens when you click wikilinks in those articles. If I really was a previously banned user whose had multiple sock puppets then why would I be appealing this ban at all? I would just make a new account or do what ever you need to do to make a sock puppet. I haven't edited wikipedia before, I dont have a good understanding of wiki syntax but in any case its not hard for someone like me to learn wiki syntax (you can observe the syntax on any wiki page and adapt it to what you want - its not rocket science) as its not particularly complicated and I am a basic programmer, why would you assume that every new user at wikipedia is computer illiterate and why would it be assumed that every person new to wikipedia who understands wiki syntax must be a sock puppet?
I reject this notion that on "probability" I am allegedly this AdilBaguirov person with yet no actual proof that I am him. Have you seen my signature? I included a link to all my contributions in it any way, its not as if I was hiding anything. I have never been banned in the first place so how can I be banned again?
How can I prove that I am not this person anyway? Tell me and I shall do it.
If unblocked I promise not to edit any kind of disputed article and will make sure I balance everything in my writings. I also promise to use the talk page more. Better still I wont touch any article that is outside of England and Britain! I think the only crime I've done was being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Can't you do an IP examination to prove that I am not this AdilBaguirov person.
I'm just trying to clear my name here.

Finally: if I was a sock puppet why would I appeal against my block? would it make more sense to just create a new user account?

Decline reason:

I have done a fairly exhaustive comparison of your edits vs those of AdilBaguirov and I am coming to the same conclusion that Spartaz above has. We, as just regular admins, have no way to check your IP address... and anyway it would be inconclusive if we did and they ended up different. I think the editor should be given a second chance following his/her promise:

"If unblocked I promise not to edit any kind of disputed article and will make sure I balance everything in my writings. I also promise to use the talk page more. Better still I wont touch any article that is outside of England and Britain! I think the only crime I've done was being in the wrong place at the wrong time."

It seems to me that this ban was based on 'gut feeling', which can be sometimes useful. My 'gut feeling' is opposite to the 3 admins here. 3 admins agreeing on a ban must be something assuming there is no 'kinship of admins'. Why do I have this opposite 'gut feeling'? First, different interests (check [1] vs [2], only intersection possibly the list of iranic states article). Second different perspective (Iranian Azeri vs Turkish sympathizer, Iranian Azeri was an assumption, I am not so familiar with user:adibaguirov). Third, contributions, Londium's only major edit on the list of Iranic states article was removing the 'Turkic empires' there following his comments on the talk page. Last but not least, his unblock requests here, which gave me the impression that he is not a sockpuppet. Anyway, imo the worst that should be done to this editor was banning him/her from the 'Iranic' articles, certainly not banning completely, and the editor agreed to not do anything with those articles, and to be a 'good kid', anyway. He should be able to 'touch' non-British articles as well. DenizTC 02:05, 27 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Your recent edits edit

Hi, there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. On many keyboards, the tilde is entered by holding the Shift key, and pressing the key with the tilde pictured. You may also click on the signature button   located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. WP Computing edit

Greetings. You are receiving this note as you are a member of this WikiProject. Currently there is not much of activity in the project and I am hoping to revive the project with your help. I have made a few changes to the project page Diff. You are welcome to make suggestions of improvement / changes in the design. I have also make a proposal to AutoTagg articles with {{WikiProject Computing}} for the descendant wikiprojects articles also.
