Ploidy

edit

Hi, Although I agree that the section could be expanded with some plant examples, I've reverted you change to ploidy for the following reasons: the citation is not a good one, it is too specific for ferns. While it is true that vascular plants including flowering plants have alternating diploid and haploid generations, the haploid generation of flowering plants is hidden inside the pollen grain or the ovule, and the statement is therefore likely to get a "huh?" reaction. Similarly for conifers, cycads, etc. Mosses, liverworts, and most algae also alternate in this way, and that's just starting with the plant kingdom. Sorry, don't mean to be discouraging. Best wishes, Nadiatalent (talk) 18:48, 8 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
