Thank you for experimenting with Wikipedia. Your test worked, and the page that you created has been or soon will be deleted. Please use the sandbox for any other tests you want to do. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Reaper Eternal (talk) 17:43, 21 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Username violation

edit

Welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for your contributions. However, I noticed that your username (Llegebhouse) may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because it is name of an academic publisher, but Begell is backwards. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may ask for a change of username, or you may simply create a new account and use that for editing. Do not place messages in response to this here, but here Thanks! --75.183.106.119 (talk) 00:55, 24 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Critical Reviews in Physical Rehabilitation Medicine

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Critical Reviews in Physical Rehabilitation Medicine requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, the username you have chosen (Llegebhouse) seems to imply that you are editing on behalf of a group, company or website.

There are two issues with this:

  1. It is possible that you have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, you must exercise great caution when editing on topics related to your organization.
  2. Your account cannot represent a group of people. You may wish to create a new account with a username that represents only you. Alternatively, you may consider changing your username to avoid giving the impression that your personal account is being used for promotional purposes.

Regardless of whether you change your name or create a new account, you are not exempted from the guidelines concerning editing where you have a conflict of interest. For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. The article in question is Begell House. Thank you.

we can spell backwards too! WuhWuzDat 17:58, 24 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

This is your only warning; if you use Wikipedia for soapboxing, promotion or advertising again, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. WuhWuzDat 17:58, 24 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because it appears to be mainly intended or used for publicity and/or promotional purposes. Please read the following carefully.

Why can't I edit Wikipedia?

Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, celebrity or other well-known individual, or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. The edits may have violated one or more of our rules on spamming, which include: adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements, and using Wikipedia for promotion. Wikipedia has many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, but it is considered inappropriate for such groups to use Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.

Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?

Probably not. See WP:FAQ/Organizations for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. Also, review the conflict of interest guidance to see the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, or organization. If this does not fit in with your goals, then you will not be allowed to edit again. Consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.

What can I do now?

You are still welcome to write about something other than your company or organization. If you do intend to make useful contributions on some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:

  • Add the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} on your user talk page.
  • Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
  • Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, please see how to appeal a block. Favonian (talk) 17:59, 24 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who accepted the request.

FilBlyFil (block logactive blocksglobal blocksautoblockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Requested username:

Request reason:

I fully understand the reason for which wikipedia cautiously edits its articles. I wish to fully comply with creating articles of my particular interest that adhere to the rules and policies of Wikipedia. My intended username certainly expressed close connection to my initial article. I wish to create exceptionally clear and resourceful information articles and I cannot proceed to do so with a block, furthermore, it is a shame that my progress through the past practice and experience in writing, editing and recognizing structural issues will be wiped clean. Section G11 clearly states also that just the subject or object of the article does not indicate any advertisement. I argue that my articles have very little information to merit any violation of that particular section of the policies. I have received great help in the first leap of the articles posted and I intend to improve my ability to publish articles. For this reason, I wish to have a username that does not have any strong connection to any article which might be published or proposed. I will fullfill a goal to rewrite the articles and hopefully the wikipedia team can help me create the best possible solution for the subjects i will propose in the near and far future. Thank you.

Accept reason:

Allowing username change to requested username. Please put this request in at Wikipedia:Changing username as soon as possible to avoid re-blocking. Favonian (talk) 09:48, 25 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
  • I support this request. The journal articles created by this editor, despite his obvious COI, were pretty neutral. In time, I think he has the potential to become a good editor. I have removed all of the speedy deletion templates (I think) and copyedited where necessary. --Crusio (talk) 18:18, 24 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
Some questions:
  • Do you understand our concerns about conflict of interest?
  • Are you interested in editing on subjects other than your company's publications?
  • When editing articles to do with your company are you willing to observe Wikipedia:Best practices for editors with conflicts of interest?
  • Do you understand that just because something such as a publication exists, it does not necessarily meet Wikipedia's notability criterion, which requires showing "significant coverage in reliable, independent secondary sources"?
JohnCD (talk) 22:38, 24 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

-In response to the set of question- I fully understand the conflicts of interest presented here. I assure you this account will be used in the expansion of many articles. I must be candid in my answer and confess that I was inspired to create an article for the company, this however does not mean I am interested in issuing false information. It is in my best interest to keep the articles open for future users to help develop the article with help from who ever can. I am an amateur editor and I earnestly plead for help in revising and editing rather than deleting the entire article! What sense does it make to delete the article, my greatest desire was simply to lay the first stone for the article, I did not know this dynamics of wikipedia editing, who can blame me? Your posed question on me editing other articles, surely I can do so, but wouldn't it be strange to edit the hard work of others when I myself have so little experience. I will strive to make improvements to my edits and to provide even more depth and resources. I wish i could undo that which was wrong, but I cannot- and I don't feel it would be fair to keep making new accounts- I want to build my reputation- as it appears to be possible when examining the profiles of other editors. I am patient and look forward to becoming a contributor to wikipedia. This is an extraordinary new experience for me and I would like to thank the fellow editors who have helped me with the first few posts.

-I fear there is little progress that can be made, I wonder if I can change my username- I feel like now that I have basically ruined my username reputation that there is very little progress that I can achieve. Hopefully the administrators will allow some articles to at least be scrubbed but be left for revision by other editors here through the dynamic discussions as I witnessed.

I was coming here to unblock you, but Favonian got there first. What you should do now is apply at WP:CHU to change username - scroll down to the bottom of that page and click on "Simple". You have no need to apologise: it is a problem with Wikipedia's keenness for everyone to come and edit that there is no clear advance explanation of "the rules"; but the system is very forgiving to people who learn. Your articles were not at all promotional compared with some: recently I have had the authors of the following phrases assure me they had no intent to advertise: "friendly and knowledgeable staff... sensational visual experience... unique refurbishing process... an experience to carry with you for life... dedicated Customer Service team... "
All you need to do, when editing anything to do with your company or its products, is follow the rules of WP:BESTCOI: basically, rather than make any significant change, propose it on a talk page, decaring your interest, and let uninvolved users decide. For articles, propose them at WP:Articles for creation, again declaring your interest. If you do that, you will find everyone very willing to help.
It may be difficult to establish notability for the various journals individually: I see at one of the AfDs a suggestion to group them together with the company, and that may be the way to go.
