discussion about The Banjo Cafe

edit

Lkey-o (talk) 22:40, 26 September 2015 (UTC)I agree with Jim. The Banjo Cafe was an iconic space that was a heavy influence on Bluegrass musicians of the time and the regular clientele that frequented the venue. By editing out musicians who played there you discredit both the musicians and music that was experiencing a renaissance at the time (one that I believe The Banjo had a lot to do with). I would venture to say that many Bluegrass Musicians who are now in their 40s - 50s would cite The Banjo as a heavy influence on their decision to pursue this music. Hello, Lkey-o, and welcome to Wikipedia. Your contributions are welcome here, but please note that Wikipedia does have some rules about what can be included as part of Wikipedia articles. One important rule is that Wikipedia must not contain, or even link to, copyright violations. It was apparently because the YouTube videos constituted copyright violation that they were removed from the article The Banjo Cafe.
Another important rule is that every fact on Wikipedia is supposed to be cited to a reliable, published source. So the book that is currently cited in the article can be used to substantiate facts about The Banjo Cafe, but things that you, Jameslcooper, the former owner of The Banjo Cafe, or anyone else remember about the place cannot be included in the Wikipedia article about it unless those recollections have been published elsewhere first. The relevant Wikipedia policy is called No original research. Published sources that could be used include newspaper and magazine articles, books, TV programs (not commercials) and radio programs (again not commercials).
I hope this has not been too confusing — I know learning all the different policies can be overwhelming to new editors. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask either here, at the Teahouse again, or on my talk page. If you do ask here, be sure to copy and paste either {{help me}} or [[User:GrammarFascist|GrammarFascist]] (not both) into your request; either one will make Wikipedia's software alert someone to your request. —GrammarFascist contribstalk 22:39, 27 September 2015 (UTC)Reply
