A reminder about Wikipedia policies

edit

I wish to draw your attention to some of the policies that apply to editing Wikipedia. In particular, please read the policy at Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons. The summary of that policy states, "Material about living persons added to any Wikipedia page must be written with the greatest care and attention to verifiability, neutrality, and avoidance of original research." I have redacted the summary of one of your edits posted on December 12, 2014, because it violated that policy.

"Verifiability, neutrality, and avoidance of original research" refer to our core content policies:

  • Wikipedia:Neutral point of view - "Articles must not take sides, but should explain the sides, fairly and without bias. This applies to both what you say and how you say it."
  • Wikipedia:No original research - "Wikipedia does not publish original thought: all material in Wikipedia must be attributable to a reliable, published source. Articles may not contain any new analysis or synthesis of published material that serves to reach or imply a conclusion not clearly stated by the sources themselves."
  • Wikipedia:Verifiability - "Readers must be able to check that Wikipedia articles are not just made up. This means that all quotations and any material challenged or likely to be challenged must be attributed to a reliable, published source using an inline citation."

I also invite you to read the guidelines at Help:Edit summary and Wikipedia:Civility#Edit summary dos and don'ts. Following the rules of etiquette established by the Wikipedia community will encourage other editors to focus on the content of the article rather than on its editors.

Every editor brings his or her own viewpoints, knowledge and background to Wikipedia. Wikipedia works because it is a collaborative effort building towards consensus, while working within the policies and guidelines that have been established by the community. I urge you to become familiar with our policies and guidelines as you continue to contribute to Wikipedia. -- Donald Albury 12:37, 15 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

Another Wikipedia guideline I invite you to read is: Wikipedia:Conflict of interest. -- Donald Albury 15:51, 15 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hernando de Soto article

edit

Veritas20132014 appears to be anonymous, and speculating on editors' identities in this way could be seen as harassment. The recent edits are not vandalism or self-promotion, if anything they are to remove content that they believe to be inadequately sourced (and also disrupts the flow of the article and possibly goes into too much detail). This is clearly a dispute; please contribute to the discussion on the article's talk page, or request assistance such as from the Wikiproject talk pages that are linked there, or the Wikipedia:Reliable sources/noticeboard. Sockpuppet investigation

edit

Hi. An editor has opened an investigation into sockpuppetry by you. Sockpuppetry is the use of more than one Wikipedia account in a manner that contravenes community policy. The investigation is being held at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/EditorAlbury, where the editor who opened the investigation has presented their evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with the guide to responding to investigations, and then feel free to offer your own evidence or to submit comments that you wish to be considered by the Wikipedia administrator who decides the result of the investigation. If you have been using multiple accounts (in a manner contrary to Wikipedia policy), please go to the investigation page and verify that now. Leniency is usually shown to those who promise not to do so again, or who did so unwittingly, but the abuse of multiple accounts is taken very seriously by the Wikipedia community.
