Hey -- a picture by itself doesn't count as an article and is likely to get deleted. If you're going to create an article, please make sure it has some content. NawlinWiki 01:49, 21 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Suit yourself -- I think it would help the reader out more if you would write at least a short description of who the person is and why they are notable. NawlinWiki 01:52, 21 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Being black and Asian by itself isn't notable -- being a black and Asian celebrity (for some other reason) is. I've never heard of any of the subjects of the picture-only articles you created. I could look them up on Google -- but that's the point of having a WP article, so you don't have to do that. NawlinWiki 02:00, 21 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Please remember to sign your posts using four tildes --> ~ , as this give a timestamp and username automatically HawkerTyphoon 02:05, 21 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

I use an anti-vandalism program to monitor edits made to wikipedia every five seconds. Your edit popped up on my screen, and I noticed you were using [[User:]] as opposed to four tildes. four tildes is somewhat easier. Rest assured I'm Not involved in any of this. happy editing! Picture-only articles

edit

Please stop creating picture-only articles...this is an encyclopedia and content is most important. It's bad form to just paste a picture down--at least explain who the subject is! If you don't, more likely than not, many of your articles will be speedy deleted for lack of context. -- Scientizzle 02:19, 21 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Please refrain from creating inappropriate articles such as Maria More. It is considered vandalism. If you would like to experiment, use the sandbox. --Sbluen 02:25, 21 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Please do not edit other editors' user pages without their permission, as you did to Scientizzle. If you wish to leave a message for another editor, use their talk page. It's more polite, and it's a much more effective way to communicate with others. Thanks. - Tapir Terrific 02:28, 21 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Creating pages with just a single picture is inappropriate. See Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion#Articles, number 3. There are no other pages with just a picture. You must be looking at Image: pages. Regular pages do not have just pictures. —Wknight94 (talk) 02:30, 21 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
There is no context at all in the articles you are creating. Pictures are not context.
Please stop. If you continue to vandalize pages, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. —Wknight94 (talk) 02:40, 21 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Leaving messages for other users

edit

As I said, it's perfectly fine to leave a message on someone's talk page, just not their user page - just as you left a message for me. I encourage you to read the links provided by Slgr@ndson at the top of your own talk page. There are good resources for new editors there. Thanks! - Tapir Terrific 02:36, 21 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Pictures

edit

Hello again! I'm afraid I've had to tag several of your uploaded pictures for deletion, as they were copyright violations. You can only upload under a free licence if you made the image - which you didn't. SOrry! HawkerTyphoon 02:41, 21 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

That is not what it states under the image category. Many of the images that people have posted of artist and actors are not made by themselves, yet they stay. If you scanned the images in, then naturally they can be assigned as your property that you provided to the community. Lilnessaslove 02:43, 21 July 2006 (UTC)lilnessaslove
I'm afraid that the problem is with the licenses. You have uploaded them under free licenses, which state that you own the image, and that you release it into the public domain, as you are the owner in the eyes of the law. This is not true, I'm afraid. The only time which these pictures may be used is, as far as I'm aware, to illustrate the article of the artist or album portrayed. The question is not who provided them to the community - the question is, does US law allow you to release the images under a different licence - and the answer is no. This is your last warning. The next time you vandalize a page, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. —Wknight94 (talk) 02:52, 21 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Americanbeauty415

edit

Is this another user ID that you use? The edit hisotries of Americanbeauty415 & you are very similar. Please see WP:SOCK. -- Scientizzle 03:06, 21 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

I'm really not sure what you're saying...are you saying that you emailed another user to create one of the articles you've also created today?
Frankly you don't seem to have grasped what to do here at Wikipedia. I strongly urge you to head to Wikipedia:Tutorial. Please read WP:BIO to learn the notability guidelines of biographical articles and check out WP:COPYRIGHT to learn about the copyright rules that apply to Wikipedia content. -- Scientizzle 03:15, 21 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

If you check out Wikipedia:Criteria_for_speedy_deletion#Articles it says "Very short articles providing little or no context (e.g., "He is a funny man that has created Factory and the Hacienda. And, by the way, his wife is great."). Limited content is not in itself a reason to delete if there is enough context to allow expansion." Your articles have no context, they're just pictures. Now, for example, you added a pic to Luke Mijares, an article that has context but needs expansion on notability. Note that it hasn't been deleted?

Please take the time to read all the relevant Wikipedia policies while you're blocked from editing. -- Scientizzle 03:34, 21 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

You have been temporarily blocked from editing for disrupting Wikipedia to illustrate a point. Please note that utilizing Wikipedia to illustrate a point is disruptive and unacceptable. If you wish to make useful contributions, you may come back after the block expires. —Wknight94 (talk) 03:30, 21 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

There is a rule against creating other accounts. And bear in mind that the vandal program we are authorised to use enables us to ban accounts rather faster than it's possible to create them... Please, welcome to Wikipedia, but Wikipedia isn't a game, it's an encyclopedia, and several Admistrators, responsible for enforcing the rules, have informed you that what you are doing is disruptive.HawkerTyphoon 17:19, 21 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
