Your Edits on Omar Sharif and Youssef Chahine edit

Hello,

Your recent edits on these two articles do not follow Wikipedia protocol. You must familiarize yourself with previous discussions and agreements on the Talk pages of the articles before making controversial edits. Your edits must be supported by WP:RS. You cannot claim that someone is Lebanese when he is not a citizen of that country. Information on family does not belong in the lead paragraphs. Regards, --Arab Cowboy (talk) 19:42, 11 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Thats not true at all, origin can indeed be in the lead statement, the Zlatan article for example says he is of bosninan and croation descent, although he is born in Sweden.--Supreme Deliciousness (talk) 20:04, 11 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

My edits are supported, I am using reliable sources. I can claim someone is Lebanese because the definition of Lebanese is someone relating to the land of Lebanon. They both relate to it, through their fathers. Information about Shakira's origin is in the lead paragraph. I think you are prejudice and I feel harassed by you. You cannot simply state the facts that they are both Lebanese by origin. Ya3ni 3anjad, inta 7ameel hal 2isim 3arabee but yet, I dont think bta3reef eno el wleid byel7a2oo 2asil el bay. And they are Lebanese.... Lebanese bebe (talk) 20:16, 11 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

This is what the Aministrator Sancho has said on the Talk page of the article: "SD, avoid original research. Even the leap from "Sharif's parents were Lebanese", to "Sharif is of Lebanese descent" is going too far in an article about a living person." You cannot use unofficial "bta3reef eno el wleid byel7a2oo 2asil el bay" way of thought in encyclopedia articles. Both Chahine and Sharif's sets of parents were Egyptian citizens, regardless of their origins. --Arab Cowboy (talk) 20:37, 11 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

I did use official articles. And I did not make "bta3reef eno el wleid byel7a2oo 2asil el bay" a reference, nowhere in the actual article did I use that as a reference. Original research? The research was pretty basic for both Omar Sharif and Youssef Chahine. Is going to far in an article about a living person? Well then many articles on wikipedia need to be corrected considering articles like Shakira is of Lebanese origin.

The sentence was corrected to, Egyptian born of Lebanese origin. That is not a leap, is this a regular thing on wikipedia omitting the truth? Just out of curiosity?? Lebanese bebe (talk) 21:02, 11 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Per our core policy of verifiability, "The threshold for inclusion in Wikipedia is verifiability, not truth—that is, whether readers are able to check that material added to Wikipedia has already been published by a reliable source, not whether we think it is true. Editors should provide a reliable source for quotations and for any material that is challenged or likely to be challenged, or the material may be removed." This is what Arab Cowboy was talking about when he said that you needed to familiarize yourself with policy and previous discussions, and that you need reliable sources for your edits. While Arab Cowboy will be the first to tell you he doesn't like me - I recently blocked him for a few days - I agree with him on this. WP:V is non-negotiable. Tan | 39 21:06, 11 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
Tan, I do not dislike you.... not any more, at least, lol ;-) --Arab Cowboy (talk) 21:13, 11 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
I have not seen Shakira's article and I do not really care to, but if it says that she's of Lebanese origin, then it needs to be corrected. Her father may be so, but she is not. Rules on Wikipedia differ from the tribal thought process that you may be used to in the Middle East. Yes, this is a leap... you are making conclusions, which is WP:OR. Of course, many articles on Wikipedia need to be corrected, obviously including Shakira's. It's a dynamic process. --Arab Cowboy (talk) 21:06, 11 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Shakira herself has stated that she is Lebanese. Dynamic process....I do not think someone who is prejudice should be editing articles, calling people tribal is a bit whats the word...ignorant. Lebanese bebe (talk) 07:53, 13 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Oh and another thing, I guess I have to wait until Omar Sharif dies before I can state his origins? Its ok if you do not acknowledge this his parent's were Lebanese...but that is a fact everyone already knows :) Lebanese bebe (talk) 08:33, 13 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Tan I have used verifiable sources...Cowboy has just been deleting them and my edits. Lebanese bebe (talk) 13:48, 13 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

HEY edit

hi, i am glad to help, is this about the war edit on Lebanese born "egyptian" artists ? Eli+ 20:30, 11 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Look, this is easy, it happened to me a zillion times, kouni mitl l tahaalab, insist, be bold and report.

I can not participate in edit warring, more parties could only make matters worse.

you need to refer to senior administrators, once you prove your point and provide reliable third party sources your edits will be validated. Post your full case and your references on these links (always follow wikipedia guidelines and protocole) Wikipedia:Third opinion, if this fails try Wikipedia:Requests for mediation, and as last resort go to Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests. Do not forget to provide references for your edits in WP format >> Wikipedia:Template messages/Sources of articles/Citation quick reference, please keep me updated. hope i was of assistance Eli+ 21:25, 11 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

"Insist, be bold, report"? I cannot tell you how wrong you are in this "advice". Tan | 39 21:38, 11 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
Tan, I wish you also knew what even worse "advice" he's giving her in Arabic. Would you like to settle this matter again for us? It had already been settled before by Admin Sancho after the sources were thoroughly searched, only to be stirred again by this seemingly new user. --Arab Cowboy (talk) 21:53, 11 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Quite a fanclub you have there bebe, if i were you i'd avoid pointless arguments with these chauvinistic peasants and zelots, let them mess up wikipedia and distort facts as they please, wikipedia has lost its credibility long ago thanks to likes of hawdoleh Eli+ 06:59, 12 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Tan, when someone says to insist and be bold you consider this bad advice? If someone is telling me to stand up for my principals you consider this bad advice? Elie did say to talk to the administrators. He said to report, did he not? And he also said to follow wikipedia procedure and guidelines. Tan, do not listen to "Arab" cowboy Elie did not say anything bad he basically said to be persistent, that is why the words that follow were insist, be bold and report. He did also say he was not going to get involved. So please, he is just instigating.
As Elie said: "you need to refer to senior administrators, once you prove your point and provide reliable third party sources your edits will be validated. Post your full case and your references on these links (always follow wikipedia guidelines and protocole) Wikipedia:Third opinion, if this fails try Wikipedia:Requests for mediation, and as last resort go to Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests. Do not forget to provide references for your edits in WP format"
That sounds like good advice to me. Administrators are supposed to be guiding and non confrontational I think that is why he referred me to an administrator. You are one so maybe I can ask for your help :)

And "Arab" cowboy, why are you stalking my page? Here to say more things about being tribal? I really feel harassed by you. This conversation has nothing to do with you, I would appreciate it if you minded your own business and not involve yourself in discussions that were not addressed to you :) Merci.
Lebanese bebe (talk) 08:03, 13 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Elie, merci for the information and advice I really appreciate it. I am sorry to have dragged you into this, I did not know who else to ask and I saw a friendly person who may help :) Chauvinism seems to be the perfect word here. Yes it is quite a fan club I should start charging for admission ;P lol. Lebanese bebe (talk) 08:09, 13 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Harassed bebe... SEEK HELP! There's a certain word that comes to mind here that best describes your whole attitude, but my manners stop me from using it! --Arab Cowboy (talk) 06:58, 14 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Constant prying on one's page is by itself harassment Eli+ 19:32, 16 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

A friendly advice edit

Marhaba Lebanese Bebe,

I hope I'm not stepping out of line here but I thought I'd share a little advice that I received when I started here. I think you want to cool down your language when in a dispute. Do try to assume good faith in all situations, even if there wasn't reciprocation. Sarcasm and offensive words will not help solve the dispute, nor solve anything else really. Some people will always provoke you, but if keep your facts straight and your language professional, you'll come out on top. You've cleaned up quite a few sections and articles, and it would be a shame for your contributions not to be recognized because of temper. I wish you the very best here, and happy editing. Ciao, Yazan (talk) 15:33, 13 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Thanks dear :) Lebanese bebe (talk) 16:09, 13 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

No worries LB, just avoid being provoked and wasting your time on pointless arguments. Many articles in WP:Lebanon need a major, major revamp. Not that it's any better over here at WP:Syria! Good luck! Yazan (talk) 19:55, 13 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Copying from other articles edit

This is allowed, although it often leads to a bad article. However, I've reverted where you've done that because you left no information in the edit summaries (which you should always use, by the way), as to what articles you copied from, and that breaks our copyright licence as it makes it impossible to track the original editors. If you want to do this again, please put a link in, eg "text copied from [[Shoaib]].". In this case you would also need to give a reference for the claim that Jethro is Shoaib, by the way. I've reverted your edits. Dougweller (talk) 13:19, 15 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Conflict/Occupation in Lebanon edit

Hi Lebanese bebe. I responded to your messages at Talk:South_Lebanon_conflict_(1982–2000)#Comments_related_to_Conflict_-_vs._Occupation (I copied your discussion to the article talk page). Let's work to improve this article - my biggest concern is that the content needs to remain understandable to a reader who is unfamiliar with the history. Can we continue the discussion at the article talk page? Nimur (talk) 16:44, 15 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Disambiguation link notification for August 29 edit

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Lebanese passport, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Lebanese (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
