September 2016 edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "Lazybobsautorepairs", may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because it implies promotion or shared use. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may ask for a change of username by completing this form, or you may simply create a new account for editing. Thank you. -NottNott|talk 16:33, 10 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

About the username edit

Thanks for the welcome to Wiki. I would like to reassure other wikis that I deliberately chose the username lazybobsautorepairs to comply with the username policies. It is not a commercial name, but is a fictitious collection of words and concepts that describes some elements of my own background and character. The 'lazy' is a touch of irony. 'bob' was a nick-name from Air Force times. And, although in real life I do more white-collar work, the 'autorepairs' refers to my hobby / habit of preserving and maintaining old cars. As far as I am aware, there is no proprietary entity willing to call themselves by that name. Lazybobsautorepairs (talk) 17:36, 10 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hey, thanks for the explanation - your username makes sense to me now. I feel like I'm going to end up being the fun police for the second time now but WP:ISU states that usernames that imply the likelihood of shared use are not permitted.. Despite the interesting story behind your username, it's still against the policy  . You might be interested in a username change if you plan on editing in the future on this account. Apologies about the bureaucratic behaviour and if you have any questions please let me know. -NottNott|talk 17:58, 10 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

Thank you. I had certainly consulted and considered this also at the time. I would contend that the username does not imply any likelihood of shared use. It is not excluded by any part of WP:ISU in that it is neither a company name, a plural name nor an organisational entity. I have tried to make it clear that it is intended to denote an individual person, as the policy requires. Thanks for the opportunity to clarify.
