Hey there!
Thanks for the warm welcome. I've edited before, but I'm getting more into it now that I have some free time. I appreciate the resources very much. Just to clarify -- was there anything in my edits that seemed inappropriate or poorly done to you? Want to make sure there's wasn't anything "off" that triggered your reaching out :) LateNightWanderer (talk) 21:48, 24 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

Undue details re 2023 activities at Ramapo Indian Hills

edit

These edits to the article for the Ramapo Indian Hills Regional High School District probably provide an undue focus on the back-and-forth details of the school district, its board of education and interaction with the public. Many of the quotations from sources are extremely long and cover such details as a definition of Critical race theory. While it is entirely appropriate to cover all of the controversies going on in the district, the number of details included should be more limited and the details should probably be much shorter. Hi there. Thanks so much for the feedback. I will go ahead and trim them now. Let me know afterwards if you think more revision is necessary . Much appreciated :) LateNightWanderer (talk) 19:11, 31 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
Hey again. I just made these edits to trim down the section. I made many of the quotes (in the citation section) much shorter and changed some of what had been quotes in the main text to paraphrasing, but kept most of the information intact. Do you think it could sill use some trimming? Personally I think it's more digestible now but still has the proper context and details, but that's just my opinion. LateNightWanderer (talk) 19:45, 31 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
The 2023 section is now weighing in at about 1,800 words and appears to be getting even more excessive. The articles are intended to be a summary about the district, not a play-by-play of every election, every meeting and every factional feud. I think at this point it's far beyond the excessive detail that started this thread and it's just not digestible anymore. Alansohn (talk) 21:18, 9 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for this feedback. For some reason or other I've found myself invested in the district's history, so I've wanted to share all I've found--but I completely see how it became too unwieldy. I have significantly trimmed 2023 and other years as well. I plan on updating the 2023 election subsection with the results soon. Do you think more trimming is due? Thank again.   Hi LateNightWanderer! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor at Josh Gottheimer that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia—it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Thank you. Grayfell (talk) 06:08, 26 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Again, edits like this are not minor edits. Please slow down and read Help:Minor edit. Thank you. Grayfell (talk) 06:46, 26 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hi there. Thanks so much for this info. I was completely uninformed as to what constituted a "minor edit" and will stick to these guidelines in the future. Apologies for going forward with the photos as "minor edits"; I hadn't seen your message until now. -LateNightWanderer
