Black people in France

edit

Please add only verified, notable names to any list. Unverified information is likely to be removed (quickly), especially if it concerns living people. Thank you. Drmies (talk) 04:31, 19 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

  • Thank you for the recent additions (those politicians etc.). Let me ask you one more thing, though, or two: a. combine multiple edits into one, for an easier overview of the article history, and b. please provide edit summaries, so that other editors can see what's happening. Thanks, Drmies (talk) 15:29, 19 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Categories

Please note that I have removed the category you added to the Patrice Loko article. In order to add religious, descent, or ethnic categories to biography articles, it is necessary that the category is supported by sourced content. Additional information can be found at WP:EGRS. --Jezebel'sPonyobons mots 17:02, 21 October 2010 (UTC) Reply

Black people in France

edit

Hi there, Please do not add Category:French people of Black African descent to categories which already include other African-descent categories. Also, do not add them to articles without sources to back up your claim, as you did at Nicholas Batum.--TM 21:09, 21 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

retire

edit

I have retired from editing wikipedia . i tried to edit with good faith but it seems i cause more trouble than good.

Please don't. You just need to become familiar with the categorization guidelines. Please read them over. Some of your edits were productive. Just be more careful. If an article doesn't have a source or is already in a subcategory, there is no need to add the category.--TM 21:52, 21 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Notable Black people in France

edit

Hi. Thanks for your contributions to Black people in France. Since the list of notable people is now becoming very long, may I suggest that you move it to a separate article, titled something like List of Black people in France, in the same way that List of French people is separate from the main French people article? Otherwise, the list completely dominates the article. Cordless Larry (talk) 19:33, 23 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the reply. Why don't you try yourself? All you need to do is click on the red link in my comment above, and then paste the list of names in, adding an introductory sentence at the start. I can then take a look to make sure you haven't made any mistakes. Cordless Larry (talk) 19:47, 23 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Please do not add BLP subjects to descent categories without first ensuring that the category is supported by sourced article content, and that the individual personally identifies with the category. Additional information can be found at WP:EGRS and WP:BLPCAT. --Jezebel'sPonyobons mots 14:59, 18 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

You are still adding unsourced descent categories to BLPs and it needs to stop. --Jezebel'sPonyobons mots 16:35, 18 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
Your edits have been or will be undone shortly as they are violations of Wikipedia's BLP policy. You are welcome to add categories to biography articles, however they must meet the strict criteria as listed at WP:BLPCAT and also WP:EGRS. Please approach each article individually and review the content; before adding a descent/ethnicity category ensure that the inclusion of the category is supported by sourced article content. If it is unsourced or poorly sourced, do not add the category, this is very important in order to ensure you are following BLP policy. This also holds true when you are changing categories to reflect new information - if the info you are wishing to change is not supported by sources, it should not be changed. If there are no sources at all the category needs to be removed altogether. --Jezebel'sPonyobons mots 16:52, 18 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for continued BLPCAT violations despite ample requests to stop. You have returned to add unsupported ethnicity and descent categories across hundreds of articles after being clearly informored that it was against policy to do so. Until you can agree to abide by Wikipedia's policies on adding such categories to biography articles, your account will remain blocked. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding below this notice the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. Category:Black French sportspeople

edit

This category could be in violation of WP:BLPCAT; there are no reliable sources to verify that these sports people are black. Please stop adding this category without providing a supporting source. Regards, GiantSnowman 13:59, 15 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
