Adding References

Hello.

You are adding references to a self-published blog which itself cites Wikipedia and IMDB among its sources. This blog is not considered a reliable source for Wikipedia citations. Hi there, I believe the author meets the criteria for being a published expert in their field in this case. The majority of the content is original research and analytics on the film industry, with info from Wikipedia and IMDB usually being raw data rather than the conclusions made. I have tried to focus only on his factual findings to ensure the citations are valid. Additionally his work had already been cited in previous years on many of the pages I checked. There are a few more studies he has done I have yet to check for new information, so please let me know if you think the source is still a problem and I will avoid them in the future. Many thanks. Statement added as you have requested; apologies for I didn't realise previously the statement was required. I cannot determine whether my position constitutes a conflict of interest, as I am not editing articles pertaining to my employer or any that I have a personal stake in. It is more of an academic matter - specifically I am checking research done by the company I am employed by against relevant WP pages to provide citations or additional information where possible. If you're interested feel free to check the kinds of edits I have been making - I hope you'll agree that they are factual in nature and supported by the research cited. Many thanks. Yes, adding links to your boss' website is conflicted editing. It burnishes his reputation to be cited in Wikipedia.

Please do not directly edit any content where you have a conflict of interest (and adding links to your boss' website is a conflict of interest). Instead please propose content on the relevant Talk page, and disclose your COI when you do that. Other editors will review the content and work with you to determine if it is OK or not, on a per-proposal basis. This is similar to the disclosure and peer review process in academia. thanks. But we have no basis to conclude that Lars' boss is a notable expert in this field, and certainly no reason to accept citations to his blog over acknowledged mainstream sources for any content here. The disclosure is itself evasive and begs the RS question. SPECIFICO talk 01:22, 6 May 2016 (UTC)
