Hi, this is Sedona from class! My first impression was how thorough and consistent your citations are; the article feels well-researched and trustworthy, with plenty of opportunities for interested readers to learn more from the provided sources. Occasionally, I felt like some of the sentences could be shortened; for example, this sentence from the first paragraph of the "Education and Personal Life" section: "Day’s father John Day, Sr. was a cabinetmaker of relatively high status as well, because he had the ability to vote and was possibly Quaker educated in a time when private education was difficult to attain as a free black; Day’s proclivity for cabinetmaking and crafting stemmed from his father’s career." This has a lot of information to take in at once, and it might be easier for the reader to digest if it were broken into a couple of separate ideas. The section on his business is very informative, and I look forward to seeing how the section on his technique and artistry turns out. I was wondering if information is known about the impact he had on future furniture designers, and if so, if it might make sense to include a little about that in the "Legacy" section? If that is not strictly related to your plans for the article, I don't think it is a necessary piece to include; it's just a question I found myself asking after reading about his success and wondering how he influenced the field. Overall I think you're doing a great job with the article! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Slh140 (talkcontribs) 17:08, 19 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the feedback Sedona! I agree that I need to proof-read for clarity and to make sure the information isn't too heavy or not explained enough. I'm glad you enjoyed the article and I definitely will be sure to reflect on your suggestions when I write the Technique and Artistry section and as I continue to edit the Legacy section. What an interesting thought about Day's possible impact on furniture designs - I haven't seen much information on this so far, but I have one more large source to research, so if anything pops up about this, it could be a really interesting addition to the article. Thanks again! LTyndall (talk) 17:28, 19 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
