HOCR edit

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of HOCR, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://hocr.berlios.de. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 18:29, 2 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Articles for deletion nomination of HOCR (software) edit

I have nominated HOCR (software), an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/HOCR (software). Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. Joe Chill (talk) 15:47, 8 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of HOCR (software) edit

A tag has been placed on HOCR (software), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where an article has substantially identical content to that of an article deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Deletion of HOCR edit

Hello. I reviewed all three versions of the article before I deleted it. The newest version had footnotes, it's true, but most were not reliable sources and none of them provided "significant coverage" of HOCR.

In order to qualify for an encyclopedia article, a subject must be "notable". Please review WP:NOTE, Wikipedia's notability guideline, and Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/HOCR (software), the deletion discussion. Since HOCR has not yet been the subject of significant coverage by independent reliable sources, it doesn't appear to satisfy the notability requirements. Until the media takes note of HOCR, I'm afraid Wikipedia won't be able to have an article about it. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 06:17, 16 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

I'm sympathetic to your complaint, but I have to follow the rules. I wish you success with HOCR, and I hope to read about it in the newspaper soon.   — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 07:08, 16 January 2010 (UTC)Reply
If you think my decision to delete HOCR (software) was contrary to policy, please bring the matter to Deletion review. Thank you. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 07:30, 16 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your note. I left a comment. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 08:34, 16 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Deletion review of HOCR edit

Hello, and thank you for your note. As the administrator who deleted the article in the first place, I'm not the best person to consider whether to overturn Spartaz' decision.

Please consider whether anything has changed with respect to the notability of the software. Can an encyclopedia article be written using independent reliable sources that discuss the software (not its creator or its grants)?

I recommend that you re-read the comments at the Deletion review. If you truly believe another administrator might read those comments and reach another decision, maybe you should ask for another deletion review in light of Spartaz' comment. Good luck. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 19:48, 13 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
