Reno-Tahoe Airport

Hello, I am sorry you think I am making disruptive edits, all I am doing is adding a small reference. The article that I cited (https://www.rgj.com/story/life/2017/09/14/date-1862-jesse-lee-reno-killed-battle/664595001/) states "Reno, the infantry commander from Pennsylvania who is Reno's namesake, died three days before the battle of Antietam." This references the fact that the city of Reno was named after Jesse Lee Reno. I'm just trying my best to be helpful and providing a link for a source that states Reno is named after Jesse L Reno.

Please let me know. :) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Linphil (talkcontribs) 13:31, 17 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Would this link work better? https://centreforaviation.com/data/profiles/airports/reno-tahoe-international-airport-rno

Explains how the airport is located in Reno, Nevada and a gateway to Lake Tahoe.

I don't understand if the link should describe why it is named Reno and Tahoe Airport or just Reno is named after Jesse L Reno? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Linphil (talkcontribs) 13:40, 17 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Linphil Since the article is about the airport, not the city, and the sentence claims the airport is named after two people, the reference should explicitly state why the airport is named after those people. I suspect that "citation needed" was added because the assumption is that the airport is named after the city, not those people. If you cannot find such a source after exhaustive research, it would be okay to remove that sentence entirely and state your reasoning in the edit summary. So basically, the city of Reno is named after Jesse L Reno and one would assume that Reno Airport is named after the city it is in. How about taking out the Jesse L. Reno part? It is named after both the City of Reno and Lake Tahoe https://centreforaviation.com/data/profiles/airports/reno-tahoe-international-airport-rno. The airport isn't named after him, only the city that the airport is named after is. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Linphil (talkcontribs) 14:08, 17 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
Linphil Yes, stating that the airport is named after both the city and Lake Tahoe would be accurate in the absence of a source that states otherwise. Kstern (talk) 14:19, 17 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Allright, thank you! Sorry for the disruptions.Linphil (talk) 14:39, 17 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Manual of style flags

the MOS:FLAG is clear that flags should not be used as decoration = it is claer that there use on the Kiwifruit page is simply for direction.Andrewgprout (talk) 17:11, 11 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

Andrewgprout The guidelines specifically state: "In lists or tables, flag icons may be relevant when such representation of different subjects is pertinent to the purpose of the list or table itself." If you feel this is incorrect, you will have to work with the admins to change the guidelines and subsequently edit every crop page on Wikipedia. Here are just a few of the hundreds of examples: Grapefruit, Banana, Broccoli, Wheat, Honey, Tomato, Avocado, Barley, Lemon, Sesame, Sugarcane, Soybean. Please stop reverting legitimate edits. Reminder

Your merger proposal at Talk:Peach#Merger proposal is approaching six months with unanimous support. It may be time to pull the trigger. Personally, I'm strongly leaning in favor of support, but haven't reached a "big picture" conclusion. BiologicalMe (talk) 18:18, 29 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

DYK for Bianca Smith

On 19 January 2021, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Bianca Smith, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Bianca Smith, the first Black female coach in professional baseball history, has a J.D. degree in sports law and an MBA in sports management? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Bianca Smith. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Bianca Smith), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (ie, 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.
