Citing sources
editThere are many different citing techniques, and I'm not quote sure I understand your exact question. Wikipedia:Citing sources might have what you're looking for. - Thank you. I'll go take a look at the rest of that guideline now and see what we can do about the numbering system. My guess is that different editors used whatever system was in use at the particular source they were citing at the time, and that different publications had different editorial policies. Seeing as this is a health topic, my hunch is that we may do well to set the bar fairly high (as in 1 to 99, then one hundred and greater). I'll go see whether that fits stylebook advice. Tony1 (talk · contribs) (who is a professional copyeditor) has put a lot of time into WP:MOSNUM, and looked over autism when it was peer reviewed and promoted to one of Wiki's best articles, so you should find it in pretty good shape.
