Managing a conflict of interest

edit

  Hello, Krinkydoom. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the article Until it's My Time To Die, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. Editing for the purpose of advertising or promotion is not permitted. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Drm310 🍁 (talk) 07:22, 21 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

I do understand the COI with the artist asking me to create a page for the albums in question. I on the other hand do not understand why they have been marked for deletion and deleted, I am not being paid for creating the topics nor am I receiving compensation in any way. He has other albums who have created topics and the 2 I added yesterday have the same level of general information as his other albums. If the information being shared about the albums that are marked for deletion yet the other ones still stand it doesn’t make any sense to why his page still stands?
I do not agree with the pages being deleted and I am simply asking for the pages to be restored for the sharing of knowledge that Wikipedia has provided for the people of the world of years. Krinkydoom (talk) 13:50, 21 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
The albums most be sufficiently notable per WP:NALBUM. The only source you cited for Way Of The Gun was the artist's own website. That is a primary source and won't count towards establishing the album's notability.
Wikipedia isn't interested in what the artist wants to say about himself or his work. We consider evidence from reliable and independent sources to gauge whether a topic has gained sufficiently significant attention by the world at large, and over a period of time, to be considered worthy of a standalone article. Also, notability is not inherited, so just because an artist is notable does not guarantee that all of his works are notable enough for separate articles.
"What about article x?" is rarely a suitable reason to argue against the deletion of an article. Each article created must stand on its own merits. Pointing out that an article on a similar subject exists does not prove that the article in question should also exist; it is quite possible that the other article should also be deleted but nobody has noticed it and listed it for deletion yet. The two studio albums linked in the Sutter Kain are unsourced and if I can't find suitable sources for them, I will nominate them for deletion as well. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 19:59, 21 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

edit

Hello, Krinkydoom. Voting in the 2018 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 3 December. All users who registered an account before Sunday, 28 October 2018, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Thursday, 1 November 2018 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2018 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 19 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
