Hey, thanks for helping out with the mediation. I agree with you on most things except for the comment about Power Pop. I changed it back to alt-rock. Just trying to figure out where you got that from. Powerpop has never been used by a veritable source to describe the band, I'm pretty sure that's just a term that a couple users threw around. If you can come up with a source, I'd be happy to revert it, however, I think that as it stands: Alternative rock band, fusion sound of pop punk, emo, electronica, dance, and indie rock, with a citation, about fits the mold. Nainital

Dear BaseballBaby, Thanks for your comments. I knew it was way too long and had been meaning to pare it down. Will attend to as best I can. I saw your edits to the "Notable people" section. While I generally agree with your approach, I fear that when the text is that bare-boned, it invites readers to add their own "Famous" or "Notable" people and it gets the writer(s) (in this case, mostly me) into other controversies (i.e. who is worthy of inclusion). Also, not everyone in that list is "from" Nainital--some just attended boarding school there--so it might be more accurate to say, "Famous people associated with Nainital," or "Famous people with connections to Nainital." But, that sounds bulky ...

Hello again! I read your edit again and like its terse style. (Should have taken my precis writing class in high school seriously.) However, I did think that the section sounded a little too impersonal. So I changed it somewhat and added a brief sentence to quickly establish the famous person's connection to Nainital. I hope this will be a happy medium. Look forward to your comments. Meanwhile, will work on the other sections in the coming days.

Thanks for your reply! I guess you are right that the lengthy quotes from literature would not be of interest to most people. (They are to me, because Nainital is my hometown.) BTW, most of that quoted stuff is in the public domain--in fact I got it from Project Gutenberg. But I agree with your general point--that less is more. I look forward to your edits.

I should add that although Nainital has a year-round population of 38,000, it is well known because it is a resort town. In some ways it is like Nantucket or Martha's Vineyard, both of which have small year-round populations, but rich histories--whaling, Moby Dick, famous personalities.

Here's a tip. Take a look at User talk:203.29.131.3. It's not the norm around here, but it's catching on. I find it useful to number talk page warnings so new users (like that one) get an idea that we're counting up to something and trying to get their attention. It also helps admins see how many prior warnings were given should they need to act in a hurry. I'm sure a lot of vandals don't read the warnings anyway, but the numbering system helps break the flow for those who bother :) Cheers again. -- Longhair 09:45, 11 September 2006 (UTC)

Hi, I made an addition to the bio on the John Landis page which was rejected for being copywrited (allegedly stolen from Imdb.) It suggested i could put it in my own words. Relationship between 'Beth' & Duane Chapman

I get the feeling that this family creates some of their 'history' out of whole cloth at times. Many details change from time to time, including names, dates and times. I keep putting in citations for Alice Barmore a/k/a Beth Smith a/k/a Beth Chapman and they keep getting deleted. Why? If the purpose of Wikipedia is verification then I feel that they should stay. New Users

First off, sorry to hear about your health problems. I'll say a prayer for you.

Secondly, thank you for your user page clarifying that you do care about your changes, and realizing that the form letter may come off rude.

It's that matter I want to address, is it a form letter from Wikipedia for administrators to use, or is it your own. I too think it comes off abrasive.

In all due respect, I was a newcomer to Wikipedia, and made my very first contributions to the public access entry. You erased all of them and sent me a form letter for each one. I nearly left Wikipedia over this.

Luckily, I learned more about Wikipedia's policies, had others help streamline what I said to fit the public access entry, and eventually became a member.

In all due respect, can we all find a way to improve Wikipedia in genreal, improve how we present ourselves to newcomers, and improve delete replys/changes/reverts/form replies & etc. I see us all as being on the same team. Therefore, this would go for anyone who'd maybe not try to make Wikipedia be all it can be.)

Finally, in all due respect I mentioned you in the body of a related topic under a suggestion I'd added to The Pump's Proposals Page about page accessed counting. The following is the part mentioning you, but the full text may be found at the page within the time frame of 7 days from this post and etc. that you may probably already may be well aware of. At least this way, if because of your illness you wouldn't see it, it's my pleasure to share it with you here. When replying back on my talk page you may see that even after I received my membership I again had an entry reverted by someone because I'd unintenionally not adhered to Wikipedia's copyright rules. As I said, I see us as a work in progress. Through our mistakes we hopefully learn from them and do better the next time out. Please feel free to stop by the pubic access entry and check it out. Thanks for the message. I'm going to take a moment from my post-accident recuperation and reply today, because I just can't go to sleep until I do. I'm not going to put it at WP:VPR because that's not my style.

I had to go wa-a-a-y-y-y back to August 10 to find out to what you referred. (I have more than 6,000 edits at Wikipedia and I made almost 400 edits on that date alone, so I hope you'll forgive me for not remembering yours right away.) As far as I'm able to determine, it seems to be about this diff, wherein I removed several paragraphs of commentary from public access television. (The surrounding paragraphs should have been removed too, but that wasn't the problem at the time.)

I reverted the edit and left the {{comment2}} message on User talk:68.207.100.174, which is standard operating procedure for edits like that. I'd also like to point out that the edit in question wasn't your first edit, as you claim in your post at WP:VPR. This was your first edit, on the day before and with which I had nothing to do, so let's get that straight before blaming me for ruining "all of (your) very first submissions ever."

I'm not an administrator, and I am sincerely sorry you were offended. Having said that, the edit was inappropriate, and it was reverted in the same manner such edits are reverted every day by dozens of RC patrollers and other editors. {{comment2}} is a template that can be found along with its brothers, sisters, and cousins at Template_messages/User_talk_namespace. They are used thousands of times every day, and they can indeed be harsh to well-intentioned users, which is why I apologize for hurt feelings at the top of my talk page.

The problem is that you didn't come to my talk page to talk about it that day. You didn't leave a message on my talk page about it that day, that week, or even that _month_. I looked several times through my talk history and your contributions history in both IP and registered accounts, just to be sure. Instead, seven weeks after the fact, on a community page, in a section that wasn't even about the templates or newcomers or anything to do with the subject, you write a paragraph that can be summarized like this: "Yes, this is a good idea. Oh, and by the way, BaseballBaby nearly ran me off of Wikipedia."

I'm one of the least adversarial people here, and if you had asked me I would have been happy to help you rephrase or re-edit your content, just as I and others help new users every day. It's better to talk directly to someone about situations like this one, rather than commenting at WP:VPR, because everyone makes errors and there's no reason to pile on publicly – even when it's not a mistake, why call everyone's attention to it in that manner? It doesn't do anything to help the situation and likely makes it worse, plus it embarrasses two people needlessly – you and the person about whom you're commenting.

Again, I'm sorry your feelings were hurt over the template message, but in the future you really should take it up with an editor sooner, rather than later, and on a one-to-one basis instead of on a community page like the VP. Now that you're a registered user, I hope you'll spend some time on Recent changes patrol to help us out and gain a little perspective.

Lastly, I noticed something tonight while researching this issue: If you're editing from both this account and anonymously from an IP address, that's called sock puppetry. If you are doing this, choose one _or_ the other – you shouldn't edit from both, and definitely shouldn't edit the same articles or article talk pages from both. Thanks for the reply. I prayed for your health problems. Glad to see a reply from you. Considering your comments, I agree with all of them except a couple maybe. I agree that I procrastinated in replying in general and I'm sorry. Yet, better late than never.

As for your statement that my first edit was the one about the Shuster awards, again your correct and good research, which I should've clarified if I didn't; although, and in all due respect, possibly it wasn't your intention, I think your comment about, Let's get that straight before you blame me for ruinning your first article ever, could be taken as adversial or was adversial, when your pointing out of my mistake had alread sufficed and had been well put. I know maybe you could counter the latter as hypocrisim wish my mention of you on the Pump page, but I think that my comments were well put and unadversial there.

As for your statement that I should've contacted you first vs a public forum, I could see that too, but it's proper ettequite to not correct a fellow worker, user or etc (although, I do sometime using "In all due respect" phrasing and etc.) and to instead go to their superior officer, or possibly in our case Wikipedia in general because we're all a part of it (technically I know it's owned as a business by someone though.); wherefore, usually, as I think you concsiously or unconsciously proved with a ring of acknowledgement in your reply, the individual has to deal with the facts of if they did or didn't do the best that they could've done.

Finally, if you mean that I've been editing under my old IP address or whatever and my member account I understand. I've accidentally done one or two edits I think under the old IP, but I'm pretty sure all the other IP stuff was before I became a member. Again though, good observation on your part if that's what you were addressing. I'm well aware that your heavily involved with Wikipedia. Sorry about thinking you were an Administrater.

Thanks for suggesting I check out the Recent Changes Patrol. It was very interesting. Do you simply browse through articles or does Wikipedia assign them to you. I didn't quite understand that (while writing this I saw that there's a link for "Recent Changes," which may be where you patrol. maybe that's where one sees New Articles and etc. too. Or, maybe the "Random article" link could be used in a similar fashion by a patroller.). Although, hopefully I can help you out in all due respect. I do think your User page makes it clear that you think you're not intentionally being mean to anyone, and that you encourage them to leave you civilized replys (the latter part I totally agree with.), but maybe you haven't realized that you had come off wrong to someone.

Regarding the Recent Changes Patrol you suggest I read, which you're possibly well aware of already, it states:

Because no wikipedians like their edits to be deleted, it is important to leave concise but clear justifications on the talk page or in the edit summary.

I know it goes on to mention what basically admits to vandalisim next, but it also states to be sure if or if not the editor intended that and to help educate them with a note in the reason section or on their talk page. It then goes on to enforce that patrollers be careful with Newbies and that besides leaving the form templates you'd mentioned, that that a note should be left in their talk page to help educate them, and or to be helpful in educating them in general.

Therefore, I know that you patrol a lot of articles and that you could say that you don't have time to do that. If that's the case then I encourage you to browse fewer ones so that you can honor the patroller rules as stated. Again, I'm not saying that it's intentional on your part, but I think this would help you overall be a better patroller. You're already honoring other aspects of the patrollers very well, and this would only help you more.

Finally, I enjoyed seeing on your User page that your a user that remembers rotary telephones. Do you remember their distinct sound? I remember them too and that sound. Your User page also has some other interesting things that your a part of besides being a patroller, including being a registered nurse. For what it's worth are you a man or a woman? Hi Katie.

I'm not sure if you're a moderator, but there is a photo being used on the Madonna Sticky and Sweet Tour page, and it turns out that it's from Reuters. It is not self-made as the user is saying. We were having an edit war with another user over images. This was added, but it is copyrighted. I don't want another war, so I come to you first. Arthur! The Musical

I was looking for this musical, and saw that you had deleted the page. Our high school (New Milford HS in NJ) performed it two years ago, since our director was friends with the writers. They, for the record, later went on to write for Friends. :) There are a few videos up on youtube, but the name was changed to Arthur! the Musical. The numbers that I believe are up include Champagne, Fun, Atilla the Hun, and a few others. I don't know how to get the page back up, since I do not use this site often. Dear friend, after you edited article Andijan, this was bad edited by an anonymous, and is now unreadable. Unluckely I can't solve it. I dont write english correctly neither know the tags in html. Can you solve it?. You can see also the historic information in catalan version http://ca.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andidjan, larger that the english one. Matt Weston

I sent an email 10 days or so ago and have heard nothing back. Matt Weston was at Ipswich Town between 1992-1995 (see Pride of anglia) and so has a record of playing for the club.
