World Psychiatric Association

World Psychiatric Association (WPA) is an association of psychiatric societies that attempts to increase the knowledge and skills needed for working in the field of mental health and the care for the mentally ill. It consists of 130 member societies, in 113 different countries, representing over 180,000 psychiatrists.

Every three year the WPA organizes the World Congress of Psychiatry.

It also organizes congresses, meetings, and thematic conferences. It has 65 scientific sections, aimed to provide information and promote collaborative work in specific domains of psychiatry. It produced several educational programs and series of books.

Ewan Cameron (MKULTRA) was the first chairman of the organisation. Juan Mezzich is the current president.

Among its members are the American Psychiatric Association, The Royal College of Psychiatrists (UK) and Chinese Society of Psychiatry

World Psychiatry is the official journal of the WPA. It has three issues per year and is sent to its member psychiatrists. It features new research and mental health policies.

You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve.
