We appreciate encyclopedic contributions, but some of your recent contributions, such as your edit to the page Church of the Apostles (Atlanta), seem to be advertising or for promotional purposes. –== November 2016 ==   Hello, I'm C.Fred. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Church of the Apostles (Atlanta) have been undone because they appeared to be promotional. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia. The church's article should not read like an advertising brochure.C.Fred (talk) 01:05, 29 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

OK, thanks. I am simply trying to update the page for our church. All of the information is factual, not meant to be promotional.
The fact that you call it "our church" is part of the problem. It's hard for an editor with a conflict of interest—a connection to the subject—to be able to write about it impartially. —C.Fred (talk) 01:10, 29 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
removed references to "our church" and other brochure-y words. Appreciate review to find other such words without total revocation. We're new here, and we're biased, so please be kind.
C'MON! Do you really have to delete everything??? I'm just trying to update a really old entry. Please stop deleting everything I do.
Sorry, but there's a lot of bathwater, and I'm not seeing any baby in there. —C.Fred (talk) 01:23, 29 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
Will this do: "It is a church."
That's already established in the intro. —C.Fred (talk) 01:26, 29 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
obviously, sarcasm is not acceptable either. Is it policy to just chuck out everything if you don't like it? I'm gonna go one section at a time, so I don't lose all my work again and again and again like I've done tonight.

Managing a conflict of interest

edit

  Hello, Kevinsandlin. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about in the article Church of the Apostles (Atlanta), you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
  • instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Also, phrases like "our vision" and "our Statement of Faith" are absolutely inappropriate for Wikipedia. Articles should be written from neutral point of view.C.Fred (talk) 01:21, 29 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
