Teedyuscung

I recall that you had some helpful input on some Pennsylvania based Indian and Revolutionary War articles I have written in the past. Fort Antes comes to mind as does Shikellamy if I am not mistaken. I am now working on Teedyuscung of the Lenape and Treaty of Easton. Any help, references or insight you have on this subject will be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Harrison

Since you obviously know so much about Harrison, can you add what you consider missing to the article? RlevseTalk 23:21, 18 February 2009 (UTC)

I have added two paragraphs going into detail about the confrontation between Tecumseh and Harrison that I believe fairly well sums up the entire disagreement in better detail. I also added a couple paragraphs from Battle of Tippecanoe which I have lately been working on, that better explain the controversy after the battle and the initial report of a defeat. Could you please check that and reconsider your opposition to the FAC? Charles Edward (Talk) 01:52, 26 February 2009 (UTC)

Hello. Have you had a chance to double check the William Henry Harrison article? Charles Edward (Talk) 19:01, 27 February 2009 (UTC)

Hello Charles. I finally got the chance to look at it again. You've done some good work. Many of my objections still remain, however, but since the nomination was "restarted" without explanation, my comments have apparently been discarded. I won't bother to oppose a second time, so I think you're in good shape for this article to be promoted to featured status. Cheers! —Kevin Myers 00:55, 3 March 2009 (UTC)

Declaration of Independence Pauline Maier's book

Are you the author of this entry for the Declaration of Independence? If so, has there been any discussion of rehashing the work of other authors by Maier and included in this book on DOI? thanks Abigailquincy (talk) 14:32, 7 March 2009 (UTC)AbigailquincyAbigailquincy (talk) 14:32, 7 March 2009 (UTC)

Yes, I wrote (or rewrote) much of the article on the Declaration. But I'm not sure what you are asking with your second question. Which authors do you mean? —Kevin Myers 17:04, 7 March 2009 (UTC)

National Security Letter

Hi, I noticed your reversion of BradMajor's edit to National Security Letter. You say that "See Also" is not a backdoor for original research, but BradMajor just added a wikilink to the Wikipedia article: Writs of assistance. I find that wikilink helpful, and don't understand how "original research" factors in here. I suggest we put the wikilink back. Brianwc (talk) 05:05, 4 April 2009 (UTC)

Hello Brian. "See also" sections can be construed as editorial commentary, particularly when the connection between the two articles is not obvious, so we should be careful when linking controversial articles that are not explicitly linked. (I jokingly refer to this approach as "See also: Hitler".) The National Security Letter is a subpoena, while the writ of assistance was a search warrant, so the connection is not explicit. Have reliable sources linked the two concepts? If so, then linking the articles is fine. Otherwise, it becomes commentary. Cheers! —Kevin Myers 13:47, 4 April 2009 (UTC)

Declaration of Independence Article(My Edit)

I saw what you wrote as an edit summary about my edit of the declarations 's influence on Florida. You mentioned that it should be placed in the florida article. I was thihnking about doing that. The reason i believe this edit is nesscessary is because i've seen many students taking florida history that had to write about that. One of them-I tutored, and we searched the Internet and only found two sites(next to the textbook). Many students use wikipedia and i thought this would be a good edit.

I'll tthink about putting it on the florida article but putting it on the declaration would be better. Students could just look up the declaration and find the info.

If you give me the okay to undo your revert-I'll be sure to cite more sources ond re-word the article to make it sound better. It already had good form, though, and I even included a picture. Please reconsider this edit-I feel it will be helping a large number of wiki users(the student body).SchnitzelMannGreek (talk) 14:41, 9 May 2009 (UTC)

Thanks, and a question

Thanks for adding the Syng Inkstand article to the U.S. Declaration of Independence category. I'm trying to find an article about a National Parks Service building in Philadelphia that somewhat recreates the rented rooms Jefferson had when he was writing the Declaration. I'd like to add that to the category as well. Do you know the name of it and whether we have an article? Again, thanks for the addition. -- Noroton (talk) 18:24, 4 July 2009 (UTC)

Oh, if you don't know it offhand, nevermind -- I can find out, it'll just take me a while. -- Noroton (talk) 18:25, 4 July 2009 (UTC)

Cool. Also known as the Graff House, it's mentioned in the Independence Hall article. Sounds like a future article to me! —Kevin Myers 18:43, 4 July 2009 (UTC)

See Talk:American_Indian_Wars#POV_fork_-_Indian_Wars. User:Fred Bauder had taken the Indian Wars redirect and riffed off what had been on Talk:Indian Wars/to do and went hell-bent at re-creating the content that's now on American Indian Wars. I've done the reversion to the redirect, but I suspect he may want to argue about it; as I recall, we argued it all the way out a long time ago huh? Cherokee Removal and Conflict

Hi Kevin! I've been accessing some biographies of leading Cherokee in the 19th century (see John Ross (Cherokee chief)) and noted that there is no unified article on the Cherokee removal to Indian Territory and the insuing bloody conflict between three distinct tribal groups. There is an article on the Treaty which led to removal. This episode might be a little later in history than you usually work, but would you have sources on your shelves? Know of another editor with information on this topic? Best wishes. WBardwin (talk) 02:49, 24 August 2009 (UTC)
