Hi Keithmall. Was there a reason why you removed that sentence in the Paul McCarthy article? Its normally considered good form to use an edit summary and/or a note on the talk page explaining your edit when your remove information from an article. Its helps other editors know if its a valid edit or just drive-by vandalism. Cheers --Spartaz 20:00, 24 December 2006 (UTC)
Paul McCartney did not sing on Do They Know Its Christmas although his speaking voice did appear on the b side.

The question of capitalising of the letter "t" in The of The Beatles has been raised again. It appears that UK style references (here and here) also maintains that the letter should be in lower case. If the Project is to be appear professional then it may have to change the format. Polite discussion is invited at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject The Beatles/Policy. If possible, please provide sources/references to support your position.
It has been a fairly quiet time with regard to the Project (or at least that is how it seems). If you are reading this and wondering why your efforts in respect of a Beatles article has not been mentioned, it may be that you haven't told any editor. Hottest issue or concern for this month is the perennial matter of Project articles losing their Good or Featured Article status. The main Project page now includes a status board that gives the current ratings of some of the more important articles. Let's make sure the core articles (The Beatles, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr) reach or retain Good Article status, if not Featured Article. If you are aware of another major article whose status is at risk, add it to the board.
Since there has been no response in the matter of the use of lowercase for the initial letter of the when applied with Beatles from the opponents, it is likely that the case for using lowercase only will be adopted as Project policy by default. User:LessHeard vanU will draw up a recommendation and submit it to the Policy talkpage in a few days.
We are pleased to welcome the contributions of Alexcalamaro to this newsletter. Any editor can include an item of interest or news; this medium can be an excellent tool for getting a comment seen by a great number of project members. As it says below, this is your newsletter. See below. There is genuine concern that the Newsletter is getting stale in terms of content and variety, and that the same individuals are featured each month. Furthermore, lack of "news" is hindering the timely distribution as the editors wait for something to report. All Project editors are encouraged to give their news, suggestions and thoughts to keep the 'Letter vital and interesting. If making direct contributions do not appeal, please give a mention on the Newsletter talkpage and it will be incorporated!
Help is needed for the job of putting future Newsletters together. The present incumbent is finding it difficult to reflect the breadth of the Project, focusing on much the same individuals and articles each month, and has decided to beg for contributions from other individuals. Interested persons need only start working on next months issue to qualify. It really is that simple! If you've just joined, add your name to the Participants section of Wikipedia:WikiProject The Beatles. You'll get a mention in the next issue of the Newsletter and get it delivered as desired. Amendment to Missy Higgins article edit
Dear Keith,
I'm sorry about the misunderstanding. When i viewed the change I mistook it and thought it was made by the user 'Harry**' without good reason. My thoughts on having the material near the beginning of the page is similar to the thoughts of user 'Chuq', "I thought it would be useful to at least mention that a 2nd album was about to be released." It is entirely relevant to have some information about her new release\s in the opening paragraph as many people don't read pages in detail and it is quite a major event in her career and of large very large public interest.
I am happy with the edit that Chuq made and though if I had my choice Steer would be in the first paragraph, I believe this is a fair balance between your and my opinions. What are your thoughts on that?
I also apologize for labelling 'Steer' as a title track. I believed title track meant the 'major' most popular/promoted/released track from an album, but now realise it should have been labeled as a featured track.
Aside from that I would appreciate If you conducted your communication to me in a respectful civilized manner as, "I'll leave it if it makes you happy to have such badly written material in the article" unknowingly assumes derogatory and hurtful characteristics of myself.

Replied with: Thank you for your response. I am genuinely sorry if the tone of my comments seemed uncivilised but your own comments ie "please do not remove material without good reason" were also a bit abrasive considering we now agree that my amendments were made for a reason. Clearly we are are both interested in the quality of the article and of Wikipedia in general so maybe we should shake hands from (presumably)several thousand miles apart and work for the common good. I think the compromise amendments that have been made are absolutely fine. He is quite correct that this is an encyclopedia not a fan information site. I think the "headline" reference to a 2nd album (which I guess we are both looking forward to hearing), with fuller details in their chronological place is a correct approach to the structure of the article. We have both apologised for our comments and I am pleased this has come to a grown up conclusion.

Speedy deletion of Clive Gregson edit

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay.
