Pan-Iranism

Hi Kashk. I think your compromise version on Pan-Iranism is OK. Regards, Grandmaster 20:06, 20 May 2006 (UTC)

VandalProof 1.2 Now Available

After a lenghty, but much-needed Wikibreak, I'm happy to announce that version 1.2 of VandalProof is now available for download! Beyond fixing some of the most obnoxious bugs, like the persistent crash on start-up that many have experienced, version 1.2 also offers a wide variety of new features, including a stub-sorter, a global user whitelist and blacklist, navigational controls, and greater customization. You can find a full list of the new features here. While I believe this release to be a significant improvement over the last, it's nonetheless nowhere near the end of the line for VandalProof. Thanks to Rob Church, I now have an account on test.wikipedia.org with SysOp rights and have already been hard at work incorporating administrative tools into VandalProof, which I plan to make available in the near future. An example of one such SysOp tool that I'm working on incorporating is my simple history merge tool, which simplifies the process of performing history merges from one article into another. Anyway, if you haven't already, I'd encourage you to download and install version 1.2 and take it out for a test-drive. As always, your suggestions for improvement are always appreciated, and I hope that you will find this new version useful. Happy editing! --AmiDaniel (talk) 02:50, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

chera pak kardi male mano? shoma torkzabanin? qardahs niye bele elirsen? men haqiqati yaziram. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Asina (talkcontribs)

I will find a source for Piran being Kurdish but every body which comes from Iran even without a citiation can guess that piran is name of a Kurdish tribe since Turko-mongolian tribe names usually have three or four q, like qaqaqaqa, qraqachaq, qarapapaq, qizqichan, qaraquyunlu, aq qyuynlu etc...and the Arabic tribal names begin with banu or bani. anyway I will find a source for that. BUT remember that in Shah era (Pahlavi era) government changed many Turco-Mongolian names into Iranian. like sablax, which local Kurds still call it sablax, Sablax is not Kurdish or Iranian. it seems derived from a Mongolian name however turkish sources say it is Turkish. the name Khana, most likely seems to be derived from a Turco-Mongolian name and Shah changed it into Piranshahr. This is true about all names that had a suspecious non-Iranian origin in the region. like Urmia to Rezaiye, Salmas to Shahpur. and later by Islamic government again Urmia and Salmas.

Here my friend. http://www.cais-soas.com/CAIS/Anthropology/Kurds/kurdish_tribes.htm

Piran is a Kurdish tribe.

Nice. then can I fix that?

Reply

Don't worry, after all, we can just fix it if it's wrong. No big deal. I don't think we can delete the actual image, but we can make sure it's not used incorrectly. Adios. —Khoikhoi 23:11, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

Dehkhoda CD

Did u figure out how to copy text from the dictionary into a doc or txt file without the font getting messed up? If you can find a way to copy and paste the Farsi stuff directly from Dehkhoda CD into WP's editor, it will IMMENSELY help our editing production levels, even on English WP, since I usually reference lots of stuff on the English WP in farsi.--Zereshk 17:02, 23 May 2006 (UTC)

Re: Reza Pahlavi II

Hi. I have seen that middle name (Cyrus) in a book published on the occasion of the coronation of Mohammad Reza Shah and Shahbanou Farah. It was a German book, and the name was written in its German form Kyros. I don't know anything more about it, but regardless of whether that name stands in his identity documents or not, the fact of the matter is that neither he nor his family have ever used the name Cyrus to refer to him, and he is known to everybody by the name Reza Pahlavi. Therefore, I think it was a particularly bad idea to introduce the term into this article, because in an Encyclopedia the common names should be used in order for the article to be accessible. An unfamiliar reader who is just taking a brief look at the page might just conclude that Reza-Cyrus and Reza are two different people! Also, unlike what other editors have said on the talk page, numbers or titles such as II, III, Jr., ... have nothing to do with monarchy or royalty, and are also common in ordinary families. They are merely a means to avoid confusion. Shervink 11:30, 24 May 2006 (UTC)shervink

I want to bring something to your Attention

This was written[2] and this was the response [3].

Here is the translation: How are you. To soon to give a complicated comment. These protests have been forming a long time coming and they are ripening, this wan not and necessary the only occasion, so that it would splash out to the streets. The basic problem is the fact that they [Iran?/Persians? I don't know who, but he says they] reject tp the Azaris the right to thei national identity, the right to the development of their own language and distinct culture. You can see even here, in the consideration of articles, Iranian Azarbaijan and Azarbaijanians. Some Iranian participants insist on saying Azaris are an Iranian ethnicity, although it is widely-known that Azaris are Turkic. This is what is being represented or occuring in Iran itself. Conflict apparently on this basis, people [Azaris] require the protection of their cultural rights.

These is only the tip of the ice berg. 72.57.230.179

When are we Going to See Proof that Azaris are Genetically Turkic

Please keep an eye on Azari and the talk:Azari. I have started the following in the discussion.

It has been ages since these citations have not been verified. Verification is needed. If not delete the material. the amount of time granted has been generious. The Azaris Iranian background has been verified through various scientific and academic sources, but the Turkic claim has not. The only think that has been verified is the Turkic langauge. 72.57.230.179

Aryan Invasion Theory and Azerbaijani people

Hey Kash. I'll check them out when I get a chance. I've been trying to get Pashtun people to become a featured article and then I wanted to do the same with Iranian peoples at some point. Still though, I'll see what's up with the articles when I get a chance. Cheers. Tombseye 17:14, 1 June 2006 (UTC)

Thanks buddy. Tombseye 17:29, 1 June 2006 (UTC)
Hey Kash, I hope you see this message way up here, but I will try to mediate and fix the Azerbaijani people page before I do the Persians and other articles. I will need your help as well so just thought I'd let you know. Cheers. Tombseye 07:07, 6 June 2006 (UTC)

Taking Iranian peoples to the nominations for Featured Article

Hey Kash. I know you nominated Iranian peoples for Good article, but I was thinking of just fixing it up as much as possible and taking it straight to Featured Article nom. I think it can make it, given some input and quickly passed. It's actually in a better position than Pashtun people was and I managed to get that article through. I see no reason why this article can't make it too. Just a few minutes of editing and fine tuning per day should do the trick (as with Pashtuns). So what do say? Tombseye 17:29, 2 June 2006 (UTC)

Hey Kash, sorry for the late reply. Actually, I think we're fine with the article as is without an infobox, since we're not going to submit it as an ethnic group project, but rather a more anthropological article. At any rate, we'll get lots of feedback and can fix it as things move forward. I liked how Pashtun people unfolded and I think it can be done with Iranian peoples and later Persian people as well. One thing at a time though. ;) Tombseye 22:40, 2 June 2006 (UTC)

Diyako

The anon is definately Diyako. Look at the history of the West Azarbaijan Province article. Go way back. You'll see how he got into this big edit war with some Azeri editors a long time ago. And now he's trying to start it up again. —Khoikhoi 00:25, 4 June 2006 (UTC)

My bad, I didn't mean to offend you man! :p Poor Diyako, I wonder if he knows a lot of his images in the Wikimedia Commons are being deleted. —Khoikhoi 00:37, 4 June 2006 (UTC)

The Seeds of Discord are Being Planted

Iranians, Editors, People of Rational Minds, Academics... The seeds of propaganda are bieng planted: reports of the massacres of Azaris are being doctored. Look at what is weing said by editors from the Republic of Azarbaijan about Azaris, [4]. They are really trying to forment biased articles. They have created to alternative articles about Shah Ismail I, one being a mythical Turk king. WE should merge the article and get rid of the Pan-Turkist fiction! 72.57.230.179

The Azari Article

Read the discussion on the [Azari] page. See the history. WE want the Iranian factor in the intro. WE do not want the section about the Iranian background to say 'Possible' becuase it is more solid and factual than the Turkic background which there is no evidence for. ALso we want fairer represntation in the photos, before there use to be only 1 Iranian and they always deleted Iranian Azaris becuase all Iranian Azaris were integrated and contributing memebers of Iranian society. They have very dirty tricks to push their biased edits. The user:Grandmaster also said he has been to Iran and that no one uses the term Azari they all say Azeri and want to join the Republic 72.57.230.179
User:Behmod is a very good and unbiased editor and knows a lot about real Turkic history. 72.57.230.179

User:Johnstevens5

I have reported this user because of constant anti-Persian, Turkish-nationalist POV and the Babur, Mughals, Timurids, Alisher Navoi, Ulugh Beg, and al-Farabi articles. --> [5]

Tajik 15:35, 7 June 2006 (UTC)

Could you please have a look at Babur. User:Johnstevens5 is once again vandalizing. He is deleting the information of the Britannica and Iranica only because he does not like the message: [6], [7]. And he keeps adding totally wrong information to article, claiming that "it is the scientific truth". However, his claims are being disproved by the most authoritative sources, from Encyclopaedia of Islam, to Irannica, Britannica, or Columbia Encyclopaedia: [8] I can't always revert his nonsense because of 3RR! And in someway I have the feeling that noone feels responsible for the article Babur or Timur, and that I am left alone with this freak. Tajik 20:17, 7 June 2006 (UTC)

Azerbaijani People revamped

Hey Kash, I need your help. I was wondering if you could find pictures of ordinary Azeris from Iran that we could use in the Azeris article? I'm still in the middle of fixing what was a pretty awful article and I'm not even half done! Anyway, let me know if you can find something. I'd appreciate it. Thanks. Tombseye 17:20, 9 June 2006 (UTC)

Hey Kash. Can you give me some Azeri contributions to Iranian cinema? Are there any Azeri language films and which Iranian films of critical recognition had Azeri involvement? I need to add soem more info. on this to the performance art section in the Azeris article, but I'm having trouble finding info. Your help would be appreciated. Thanks! Mohammad Reza Shah article.

Hello, if you have a problem with the way we have made the Mohammad Reza Shah article, please talk about it before making changes that have already been discussed and removed. See Talk:Mohammad_Reza_Pahlavi#Very_Ugly_Introduction.2C_Needs_Infobox in particular:

You also do not need to put "King of Kings," because the link to the word explains what it means.

Basically, we are already linking to Shahanshah and Aryamehr, so the translations are not required. It only lengthens the intro unnecessarily. ♠ SG →Talk 00:22, 14 June 2006 (UTC)

Well, I waited for you to answer, and since you didn't, I'm reverting your edits. ♠ SG →Talk 22:30, 15 June 2006 (UTC)
Look at the Mohammad Reza Shah talk page, and look at the above link. I linked you to the exact discussion about the translations. You do not need to translate it, because we are already linking to an article which explains the term in greater detail. Why must you bicker over such an edit, which adds more cleanliness to the article? ♠ SG →Talk 23:40, 15 June 2006 (UTC)

Hi Kash,

Yes, I noticed the article. Instead of calling Mahmoud Afshar Yazdi "Azeri Turk", why don't you just say Azerbaijani? Won't that solve the problem? Also, don't call people's legitimate edits "vandalism", because from what I could see, they're not. If there are any other problems with the article, just let me know. —Khoikhoi 01:56, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

No, don't get yourself blocked! What are you thinking? You never know when you might need to make edits. As for his claims, just add {{fact}} tags to them so sources can be provided. Just take a break and come back. —Khoikhoi 21:17, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
