British Orthodontic Society edit
Hello Sphilbrick Apologies, as I am learning how to communicate in Wikipedia for the first time! Regarding the entry and edit of the British Orthodontic Society (BOS), I have been tasked by the Society to populate this page. I am a long time member of the BOS, currently sit on the Board of Trustees and am the Honorary Patron this year. Thus the job! Please bear with me as I am grappling with the process of setting up the page. There is little in the way of references as most of the information resides with the BOS itself. Why this isn't going well so far edit
I am happy to hear that the BOS wants a better article in Wikipedia about the society.
Unfortunately, I have to report multiple problems.
The first is that you report that you "have been tasked by the Society to populate this page". Wikipedia desires that articles be written by editors who are independent of the subject. We somewhat reluctantly permit editors who are not independent of the subject to contribute, but such editors have a conflict of interest, and must abide by the provisions outlined at: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Conflict_of_interest
Among those provisions is a specific need to disclose your COI, which hasn't been done.
A second issue involves copyright violations. It is quite common for editors associated with an organization to believe that they can copy material created by that organization and include it in an article. In some cases, the organization might specifically tell that individual they are permitted to do so. However, with the rare exception of material that has been specifically licensed in a way that it can be used in Wikipedia, most content associated with organizations is subject to a full copyright, and cannot be used without explicit permission.

However, before going down that path, be aware that that in addition to being freely licensed, material must be unbiased, and most material created by organizations is understandably biased in favor of that organization.
You are encouraged to post suggestions for improvement to the article on the article talk page, and then let independent editors make changes they feel are acceptable. (You still need to comply with COI requirements).
I'm sorry we are making it so difficult for you to help improve this article, but readers of Wikipedia articles have come to count on the fact that Wikipedia endeavors to ensure that material is neutrally written, and not just recycled from material created by the subject of the article.S Philbrick(Talk) 15:44, 18 August 2019 (UTC)
