Speedy deletion nomination of Mica-Systems

edit

Hello MicaSystems,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Mica-Systems for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. TheLongTone (talk) 14:27, 13 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

There have been two problems with this account: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group, which is also against policy, as an account must be for just one person. Because of those problems, the account has been blocked indefinitely from editing.

If you intend to make useful contributions about some topic other than your business or organisation, you may request an unblock. To do so, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:CentralAuth to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy. Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:

  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. Drmies (talk) 15:20, 13 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

This account was created this way to promote transparency when adding articles or references to my employer's products. I was unaware of the policy limitation on an account origin, sorry about this.

Concerning the blocked pages, I disagree on the blame regarding the promotional use of Wikipedia. The articles were as neutral as possible, and didn't expose vague or non-verifiable claims. I expected these pages online to allow linking to them from lists of Workflow, CMS and Portal web applications pages on Wikipedia. Mica-Systems newly released a product that objectively deserves being listed in the above categories, regarding its functionalities.

Then a product and product author page seem the next logical steps. If the block is based on an enterprise's importance basis, then I would say this policy automaticaly makes wikipedia promotional to the most prominent actors. Best regards.

Accept reason:

It seems clear that in an attempt to be transparent, you inadvertently broke Wikipedia's account-naming rules. And while I'm sure you did not mean the article you created to be promotional (I've read the deleted content, and the style appeared to neutral), you do need to be aware that company articles are only accepted if you can show that the company meets Wikipedia's minimum notability standards (see WP:NCORP) and is supported by reliable sources (see WP:RS). You would also need to declare your connection to the company and edit in keeping with Wikipedia's conflict of interest guidelines (see WP:COI). Anyway, with that all said, I've renamed and unblocked your account. Welcome back. Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 16:12, 13 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
  • I'm going to leave this for someone else to decide on; I have no objection in principle. However: the article itself may have been fairly neutral, but the combination of article and user name lead me to believe that you a. picked your name and b. wrote the article with a specific purpose in mind--that purpose not being the improvement of our beautiful project. Thank you, Drmies (talk) 15:59, 13 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
