Hangon rationale

edit

I have just start writing this page about Jerry Acuff. Jerry is a distinguished author, speaker, and industry expert. He deserves to have an entry written about him, and I have just started. I will be laying out and overview of his life, business history, and current projects. I will also be referencing and citing several journals, magazines, books, and websites where his expertise and writing has been cited.

Please don't delete this yet. Plus I don't understand what speedy deletion means. Does this mean that I can't just get an article started and come back to it later to finish? Do I have to have an entire entry created before I start? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jrpsu (talkcontribs) 22:27, 20 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

You are supposed to create pages on your own user page before uploading them to Wikipedia. Othervise, people will think it is vandalism.
Speedy deletion means that your page will be deleted very quickly because it is considered vandalism or some other blatant violation of Wikipedia policy. Lhynard (talk) 05:36, 21 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for the input, that makes sense, please excuse my ignorance. How can I now take this down until I have completed the entry? --Jrpsu (talk) 19:05, 21 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
Or should I be creating this entry in the authors page?--Jrpsu (talk) 19:05, 21 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
If you click this link -- User:Jrpsu/Jerry Acuff -- it will create a subpage from your user page where you can work on the article to your heart's content until it adheres to Wikipedia article standards. Then copy the text into the new article that you then create.
When you have copied what you need from here, it is best to then remove the "hangon" tag and allow this page to be deleted. You can recreate it again when you have a near-finished project to copy over from your user subpage. Lhynard (talk) 20:25, 21 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
I've copied the text of the article over to the subpage for you. To have this article removed until later, you need to type {{db-self}} at the top of the main page to indicate that you agree it can be removed for now. Lhynard (talk) 20:30, 21 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your help, I really appreciate it.--Jrpsu (talk) 04:41, 25 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
