Long time reader and fan of wikipedia. I am on the site everyday so I figured I should make an account. Looking forward to learning the ropes of wikipedia's protocols.

I noticed that your username, "Joncabot", may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because it contains the suffix "-bot", which is generally reserved for authorized bot accounts. As an English-speaking editor, I would recognize your username as a bot because ending an account name with "bot" is how bot accounts are distinguished on Wikipedia. If the account name were Jon Cabot, I would not expect it to be a bot account. See the difference? Schazjmd (talk) 16:19, 12 October 2021 (UTC)

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment, or
2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Your username

I have closed the request for comments regarding your username as allow. It's understandable that we would see "bot" as a suffix on your name and might think this username isn't compatible with WP:MISLEADNAME. Given your explanation above, consensus was to allow your username. I'm sorry for the concern, and hope this does not affect your editing here.
