"Bad" Image list

I have opened a section on the bad image talk page here. The bad image list is something of a misnomer, it simply provides a software restriction on the use of specific images to specific pages. Since medical images of genetalia are often used as shock images, it would be wise for us to talk about adding some of the AIS images to that page. If you would be so kind as to drop by the discussion and add links to the images you have added to the article so myself or another admin can add them to the list, that would be great. Citations

Likewise, I would like to congratulate you on the incredible job that you have done with the androgen insensitivity syndrome article!

After all the hard work that you have put into this article, I feel guilty in asking this, but I do have one request. It would really help the readers if PMID, DOI, and PMC parameters were included the citations that you have added. These assist users in quickly finding the full article as well as helping bots such as Citation bot maintain these citations.

In case you haven't seen this yet, please check out User:Diberri's Wikipedia template filling tool (instructions). Given a PubMed ID, one can quickly produce a full citation that can be copied and pasted into a Wikipedia article. If you have stored these citations in some sort of citation management software, you might already have PMIDs in which case it would be really easy with the help of the Wikipedia template filling tool to provide citations that include these parameters. Thanks! If it is helpful to others, then I'm on board regarding the addition of ID's and identifiers. Unfortunately, I didn't use citation management software (powered by Notepad), so this is going to be quite a daunting task. I've been collecting papers on this subject for quite some time, and just referred to the ones that had relevant information. I'm guessing that the only way get the IDs is to just feed in title after title into pubmed, and get the ids that way... Jonathan.Marcus (talk) 03:50, 22 September 2010 (UTC)

My opinion is that if conversion of the references proves to be too laborious it is best left until the article has been edited into a more final form (summary style, references pruned, etc.) this may prove helpful in chunking, as converting 15 references at a time in a summary article is a much more manageable job than 150 in a main article. Images

The above notes are from a bot which noted that the images had been removed (and hence had scheduled them for deletion as unused non-free images) and then removed the deletion tag once the images were restored to AIS. Thanks for the heads-up, Protonk. I hope that the editor that made these changes comes to understand that these pictures are actually quite constructive in that they help people better understand AIS (and can also help affected individuals understand their own diagnosis). One of the AIS images has been removed again with this justification. I have already quoted the relevant Wikipedia policy. Given the sensitivity of this issue and your expertise in this area, I would appreciate if you would respond to this editor's concerns on the article's talk page. Thanks. I reverted the image removal. I won't comment there because I am probably not equipped to answer with the relevant expertise and sensitivity, but I am inclined to argue that the images belong there. Obviously I am involved (as an editor), so I won't take any admin action nor do I think any is needed at the moment. Where do you get the statistic that most PAISers are men? I know only female PAIS people. I know that men can get AIS, but I've never heard the statistic that most PAIS people are men, or identify as men. Is there a new study out? And I have never heard of MAIS. You don't have AIS, so you don't know. You may have a family member who has it, but that doesn't mean you 'know'. And you are correct, you have not heard the last of this. PAIS article

Hi there. I happened to notice a correction you made to the PAIS article today (the 'interceed' one). That wasn't something I was aware of before, so it sent me down the path of researching all this. It's a relatively new procedure, apparently! Anyways, I managed to add some refs to the article as a result. Thanks for that! :)

During all this, I found File:Complications from infant genitoplasty.jpg that you uploaded last year. I know that it's largely treated dispassionately in the text, but I was saddened by the clear result of that surgery; the amount of scar tissue present can only be described as horrific. I have to just vent here a bit as I found it .. well, upsetting to say the least. A picture is worth a thousand words :/ Anyway - thanks for all the work you've done here. Glad to be of service! I found that picture to be very upsetting as well; it was difficult to write about something so important without weighing in with my opinion. The current consensus is moving in the direction that it's best to wait until maturity before performing genital surgery, and I tend to agree. Of course, the issue is very complex, and everyone's case deserves individual attention before deciding; for some people, it will be better to perform the surgery early on.
