Wikipedia has many policies and guidelines, which call for gradual familiarization. In addition to neutral point of view, one of the main principles of Wikipedia nowadays is verifiability. As an encyclopedic source, Wikipedia content is mainly based on reliable secondary sources. Different projects have their own sets of guidelines. For instance, there are guidelines for identifying reliable sources in the natural sciences and for medicine. Anyway, just be sensibly bold.
