File permission problem with File:Johnkellyhockey.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Johnkellyhockey.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Addihockey10 e-mail 23:30, 13 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I'm 220 of Borg. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Chuck Berry, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page.
This is just for your information, as I didn't revert your edits. Please make sure that you provide a WP:Reliable source every time you 'declare' a person dead on their WP page.

Proposed deletion of File:Waynegretzkystlouis.jpg

edit

The file File:Waynegretzkystlouis.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

unused, low-res, no obvious use

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:01, 2 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Your Image Addition for Keaton Winn's Page

edit

Hello. I had noticed you had added the timelapse image on Keaton Winn's page depicting his first pitch. Unfortunately, it's quite large and takes up most of the page. Seeing as you know how to work images on this site (and I, admittedly, don't) and you have the image in question, I was wondering if you would be able to edit it so as to not take up so much horizontal space. I am not aware of site policies on images, but I'd imagine your image would be removed for its size. Any chance you could, say, crop it to only include the last still? Thanks! DarkSide830 (talk) 00:41, 20 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

Dear DarkSide830,
Thank you for reaching out and for your initiative in bringing this matter to my attention. I must admit that I am not well-versed in the numerous photo policies of Wikipedia. If it turns out that I have unintentionally violated any of these policies, I would be more than willing to resize the picture accordingly.
While I respectfully disagree with your viewpoint that the photo occupies a significant portion of the page and consumes excessive horizontal space, I understand that opinions may differ. It is worth noting that the placement of the photo towards the end of the article was a deliberate choice to ensure that it does not overshadow the information provided.
If you have the opportunity to view the page on the Wikipedia phone app, you will notice that the photo appears quite appealing in its current position. However, I acknowledge that individual preferences and viewing experiences may vary.
I do not have the capacity to visit page frequently. Hence, I would welcome any contributions or alterations made by others who are interested in maintaining its content. Perhaps we could consider reaching out to the page's creator, Yankees10, for guidance and input. By doing so, we may be able to establish a consensus that satisfies all parties involved.
Once again, I extend my gratitude for contacting me and for your dedication as a Wikipedia contributor. Your input is highly valued, and I look forward to working together towards a resolution.
Warm regards,
Johnmaxmena2 Johnmaxmena2 (talk) 02:31, 20 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
No problem. Like I said, I'm not versed with the site's image policies, I just worry the entire image would be discarded, and seeing as you had uploaded it I would imagine it would be of concern to you. You are correct, the image appears fine on the mobile version, though I'd presume it would be viewed differently on the desktop version. In fact, I use Vector 2010, and in switching to Vector 2022 it takes up more then the entire article width. DarkSide830 (talk) 17:21, 20 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
