If it isn't vandalism, why not allow the editor more than 3 minutes to edit the article? Σσς. (Sigma) 05:29, 20 October 2012 (UTC)

Newark's Climate

Newark winters can be characterized as "cold" because temperatures tend to fall below freezing at night. While the city definitely has a humid subtropical climate, there's nothing mild about sub-freezing temperatures. We do not want folks to think that going to Newark in the winter is the same as say...Atlanta, Georgia. 108.27.114.170 (talk) 00:54, 22 October 2012 (UTC)

Please look at the data, which in itself is a source. Newark sees on average two months of subfreezing temperatures. Honestly ask yourself, does subfreezing low temperatures qualify as "mild" temperatures. The way the climate section is written now, Newark almost sounds like a subtropical paradise. 108.27.114.170 (talk) 01:23, 22 October 2012 (UTC)

High Schools in and around Chicago

I noticed you are wrestling with some scammers at local (to me) High Schools. My plan is to check all the references and the info boxes and verify accuracy for Whitney Young (above) and for Highland Park within the next week or so. While they are protected we can do the necessary checking without IP interference. The vandals (I assume there is more than one) seem intelligent and are capable writers. It's a shame they waste their time with foolery instead of understanding the vastness of their editorial potential. I don't understand vandals. They have such a limited view of themselves. ```Buster Seven Talk 21:06, 25 October 2012 (UTC)

Steinert High School Logo Dispute

The Logo can be found several times on the Steinert High School web site. I have found it at four separate locations so far. Gamweb (talk) 08:43, 26 October 2012 (UTC)

I saw it also in a couple of those places. The file upload wizard clearly states that you are to cite the exact webpage you grabbed it from. That still does not address the fact that the file you uploaded is an exact duplicate to the file for the MSU logo that was previously removed from the articles page. The wiki software says that, not me. There are only two ways that could happen as far as I can tell. Either the logo instance that you copied from the high school's website and uploaded was originally copied from the MSU logo file on Wikipedia, or you took a shortcut and downloaded the MSU logo off Wikipedia, renamed it and uploaded it as the file in question. I am not trying to be difficult, but logos used on sports products are a big business, not something trivial. Wikipedia needs to be very careful about copyright matters in all cases, but in something with as much profit potential as athletic logos, it is especially important. My alma mater in Indiana copyrighted their logos about 20 years ago and aggressively protect it, because licensing them adds up to about 1% of their annual income budget. In a school district of 3500 kids, that is a lot of money. (~ $150,000.00 a year). Happy editing! Gtwfan52 (talk) 09:01, 26 October 2012 (UTC)
Since you are not trying to be difficult, what would you suggest as a solution? Gamweb (talk) 09:04, 26 October 2012 (UTC)
Happily! Actually download one of the instances of the logo from the high school website, upload it properly citing the exact webpage, and use that on the article. Remember that you are trying to identify exactly where the image came from. Your rationals were right on. I would suggest the reversed one as so to discourage comparison to the MSU logo. Gtwfan52 (talk) 09:11, 26 October 2012 (UTC)
One of the images appears to be slightly different (The eye of the Spartan is colored, in grey shade). Perhaps I can use that one. Gamweb (talk) 09:14, 26 October 2012 (UTC)
Actually, I wouldn't use that one as it is a bitmap(.bmp) and those tend to be very large, which will slow the page's loading significantly.Gtwfan52 (talk) 09:28, 26 October 2012 (UTC)
I changed it to a JPG with software. You can put a speedy delete tag on the other image. Gamweb (talk) 09:32, 26 October 2012 (UTC)

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Steinert High School. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Please be particularly aware, Wikipedia's policy on edit warring states:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made; that is to say, editors are not automatically "entitled" to three reverts.
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. Gamweb (talk) 20:33, 26 October 2012 (UTC)

The close timing of your edits while logged in, and those of an anonymous user logged out, appear to be more than just coincidence. Gamweb (talk) 20:35, 26 October 2012 (UTC)
