My response to the below. The State of Columbia entry is not a hoax as the below asserts.

Columbia was split from Maryland to be the seat of United State Government (the District) on Feb 27 1801 [1] pursuant to the U.S. Constitution Art I, S6, Clause 17 [2]. 1791 Act of Maryland [3] is consistent with the Feb 27 1801 Act of Congress and preserved state law [4].

The final piece is that Congress is not a state - this is according to the man who is currently U.S. Attorney General (Merrick Garland) and affirmed by the United States Supreme Court in this case[5].

"But Congress cannot be characterized as a "state legislature" without doing violence to the meaning of that term. Indeed, to characterize it as such would turn the Qualifications Clause into a circle without beginning or end. Under section 2, clause 1, House voters must have the qualifications requisite for voters of the most numerous branch of the state legislature. If that legislature were Congress itself, with the House as its most numerous branch, then the clause would say no more than that voters for the House must have the qualifications requisite for voters for the House โ€" a tautology without constitutional content."

Hence Congress is not the State of Columbia, this is still controlled by State Law.

Any more questions, p[lease let me know. Regards.

To quote Judge Wilkins of the D.C. Circuit, writing just last year for a unanimous three-judge court in Castañon v. United States, "nowhere is it contended that the Framers of the Constitution intended, by their repeated reference to "States" in Article I, to refer to anything but those entities of which the Union then had thirteen and now has fifty." But that's really beside the point: Wikipedia's job is to write about what reliable sources recognize, not about what individuals may think is right. We're not here to right great wrongs, publish original thought, or serve as a web host. We're an encyclopedia, and your page was deleted because it wasn't encyclopedic. If you insist on challenging that, you can follow the instructions at deletion review. But in my view, trying to convince the courts, Congress, and the public would be a better use of your time. (It would appear that the courts have already rejected your entreaties.) Cheers, Extraordinary Writ (talk) 20:37, 1 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
