ATHEMOO edit

Hi Joe, I seem to be hanging around Toni's course chipping in with comments ...

References are not preceded by spaces: see WP:MOS or just look at any Good or Featured article and follow the style. Your refs are a bit sketchy: you should provide enough information for your reader to know what the source is, with the web address as an add-on for those who want to follow the link. Write a ref as fully as for a paper assignment, and add a URL and "date retrieved". There are templates like {{cite web}} which help. When you're citing a book it's good to give the ISBN - if you type the 4 letters ISBN and a space and the isbn itself, it automatically makes a link to a page leading to library records etc for the book, which is rather neat.

Does ATHEMOO still exist? I saw Toni's comment, and the ATHE site doesn't seem to mention it. Has it turned into something else? When was it last known to exist? Interesting.

Good Luck! PamD 16:30, 29 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hey Pam,
Thank you very much for your comments and advice, I have changed the spacing between references and end of the sentences. And I am in the process of looking for ISBN numbers the books I have used.
ATHEMOO does not still exist as a performance medium, however it was an influential MOO and online performance space when it first came into existence. Online performance as a medium is a relatively young pursuit, mainly because the internet is very young compared to other things. So although not running now, at the time ATHEMOO was extremely important for experimental and unusual online performance. I hope this answers your question, and I really do appreciate your help.

That's fine, no problem about writing a historical account of something. But perhaps it should be "ATHEMOO was ...". Do you know how long it existed? Would be interesting to know - perhaps even in terms of "Was still active in ... and was no longer active by ...." if that's as closely as you can pin it down. (Like biographies which have "died after ...." or "fl. ...."). It might be better to expand on "MOO" in the first line - I've got a vague idea what it means, but the Wikipedia link leads to a definition involving a MUD so it's quite hard work for an outsider to understand what it's all about! Remember that someone might find your article by hitting the "Random article" button, and write for them... up to a point, anyway. PamD 17:36, 29 October 2012 (UTC)Reply
PS: Forgot to say: out of curiosity I Googled "Charles Deemer" to see what I could see about this "award-winning" writer ... and the first hit is his blog entry for today, in which he comments on the Wikipedia article. Have a read of it at http://cdeemer2007.blogspot.co.uk/ . Presumably he's got some Google alert or whatever, so that any mention of his name gets flagged up to him! I have changed it to ATHEMOO was as you suggested, the latest information I have on it is in 2000, there is nowhere that states however that it ended then. I will also add some information on what a MOO is using other sources which has a very clear description. I also saw the blog post from Charles Deemer, I have corrected my own error, the source which I took the information wrong I mis-read so it is entirely my error, I have altered it. Thank you.

Hi Joe, This article keeps turning up in the list of unclassified stubs to sort, and I keep stub-sorting it. You seem to be adding material to it but over-writing the end-matter which has {{theatre-stub}} and {{uncategorised}}. It's not your own private article, it's an encyclopedia article, and you must take care not to accidentally undo other people's work! Thanks. PamD 19:35, 29 October 2012 (UTC)Reply
Hey, Really sorry about this, I realised that I was making the error and will not do it again. Once again sorry, and thank you very much for the help.Joe Berwick (talk) 19:49, 29 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

ATHE edit

Hi Joe, You might notice that the redlink to Association for Theatre in Higher Education in your ATHEMOO article has now gone blue: I've just created a stub article for the ATHE, which has several established incoming links. (And I've made redirects from various variants too).

Good to see that at least one student from Toni's course has been doing some editing beyond the course work - welcome to the community of editors, and have fun! PamD 09:38, 7 November 2012 (UTC)Reply
