Hi, Gråbergs Gråa Sång, thanks for the message! As Im going through these pages, I am looking to understand the experiences of users with talk pages for a usability case study. I was wondering if you could share your thoughts about your experiences with this? Or if you could direct me towards a place for this, I would appreciate it! Well, talkpages are how Wikipedians must communicate, when we need to go beyond WP:ES. It takes patience to get the hang on (like the rest of WP), and not everybody think it's worth the bother. Sometimes a reply can take a long time, sometimes there is none. It depends on many things, including if anybody is watching the talkpage you're on. Like any similar part on internet, you can get anything from good interaction to death threats. The latter is forbidden and will likely be swiftly dealt with, but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen. Add to this that almost everybody you interact with do it as a kind of hobby, and they do so because they want to or at least think they should. However, IMO most people want to help, even if the help often is "No you can't do that on WP."
You may want to check Preferences > Beta features > Discussion tools, IMO it makes talkpages quite a bit easier, I wish I found it sooner. I read somewhere it will be made default at some point.
I can't think of any other forums, but you could try User talk:Jimbo Wales. Wikipedia:Research may have something you find interesting.
WP-discussions sometimes get media-attention, like [1], perhaps you want to look into that, see Wikipedia:Press coverage 2021. Hope this helps some, good luck! Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 14:43, 12 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for sharing, really appreciate it! How has the beta version been for you? Do you use all the beta features that is offered? Oh just wondering, is it okay for me to ask these things on different talk pages? I was reading through Wikipedia:NOTFORUM and I guess its not really allowed? The beta version is good, and I wish there was a way for newcomers (and others) to find it quickly. As a bonus, WP:EDITCONFLICT doesn't seem to happen when you use it, which is great on high traffic pages like WP:TEAHOUSE. I don't use all beta features, I'm a bit of a dinosaur, but would probably find more helpful ones if I looked for them. I'm think you're good on asking questions, unless you start "spamming" widely. If someone thinks so, they'll say so. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 10:03, 15 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
