Reverting vandalism

edit

Hello Jkim. I saw you cry for help dealing with that heavily vandalized page. I thought it would be nice to give you some pointers on how to revert vandalism:

  • Install Twinkle in your preferences (in the 'gagdets' tab). [Check the box, click save]
  • Go to the page history of the page riddled with vandalism.
  • Position the two dots so that the one dot is on the current version and the 2nd dot is on the version where the last editor (as opposed to IP) has edited.
  • Compare the two versions. Verify the information thoroughly (one side should have lots of vandalism, the othe side should look correct).
  • While on the diff versions, click "restore this version" on the left side.
  • Wait while page reloads- the page will blank temporarily, don't worry (it freaked me out the first time, ha).

Done! Any questions, I'll be here or you can leave me a message. Hope that helps --Tommy (msg) 23:41, 14 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Try practicing it in the wp:sandbox. You don't need to make any edits, just make sure it's installed and view the page history; follow the steps above. --Tommy (msg) 23:48, 14 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of I Can't Be Tamed

edit

A tag has been placed on I Can't Be Tamed, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where an article has substantially identical content to that of an article deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. liquidlucktalk 18:53, 18 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Allstar weekend band

edit

A tag has been placed on Allstar weekend band requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for musical topics. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove speedy deletion notices from pages you have created yourself. Please use the {{hangon}} template on the page instead if you disagree with the deletion, and make your case on the page's talk page. Thank you. Pianotech 00:07, 21 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
