Hello. Please stop adding inline external links to the articles, the Institute for Business in the Global Context have an own article here, and inline external links aren't allowed, so instead of saying [http://fletcher.tufts.edu/ibgc Institute for Business in the Global Context] the code should say [[Institute for Business in the Global Context]] . Thank you. - Tom | Thomas.W talk 19:00, 1 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

In fact, please stop adding this information to country articles en masse. It's a fairly obscure and recent study about one aspect of the economy; not something that a general encyclopedic article about a country as a whole should mention. Is there anyone else in the world besides a school in Massachusetts that thinks this information is particularly relevant? I doubt.
On a related note, while I am assuming good faith on part of your edits, I'm also going to ask directly: are you affiliated with the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy? – Finnusertop (talkcontribs) 19:10, 1 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

Many people care about these rankings, which can be seen by the numerous media outlets who have covered the report. These include: Harvard Business Review, Nikkei Asian Review, Straits Times, Bloomberg and others.

Can you answer my question: are you affiliated with the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy? – Finnusertop (talkcontribs) 19:57, 1 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
  • Since Jhansc has commented in this thread, and thus has seen my message above about the inline external links they're adding neither being needed nor allowed, but still continues to add the text, with inline link and all, I get the impression that the external links to the school's website and the report is the main reason they're adding the material, making it reference spam. - Tom | Thomas.W talk 20:11, 1 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

  Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include, but are not limited to, links to personal websites, links to websites with which you are affiliated (whether as a link in article text, or a citation in an article), and links that attract visitors to a website or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the page, please discuss it on the associated talk page rather than re-adding it. Caution for adding reference spam (see talk page section above) on a large number of articles.Tom | Thomas.W talk 20:18, 1 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

Managing a conflict of interest

edit

  Hello, Jhansc. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
  • instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies.

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. The edits of this user show a clear connection to Special:Contributions/130.64.93.236, an IP belonging to Tufts University, Somerville, MA, (see the first edit of this user, which fixes an edit by the IP that on 21 August added the same reference spam on Norway as this user has added to ~30 articles today...).Tom | Thomas.W talk 20:42, 1 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
