Hello, Jenee Cozine, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Adam and I work with the Wiki Education Foundation; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. You may also want to check out the Teahouse, a community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to helping new users. Below are some resources to help you get started editing.

Image deleted

edit

Hi! I'm the content expert for your class. It looks like an image you uploaded onto Wikimedia Commons, File:C.godoy1 copy.jpg, was deleted as a copyright violation. What this means is that the image was apparently never released under a copyright compatible to what Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons requires. This can happen for a few reasons, however the most likely scenario here is that the image was probably a more recently created image and the copyright holders never released it under any of the creative commons licenses. It's fairly common for this to happen even with older images, as sometimes companies, families, or individuals will copyright an image in order to continue profiting from it. It's why some of Ansel Adams' images are still held under copyright despite him passing in the 80s.

You may be able to upload it to Wikipedia itself if you can establish that it's fair use, but this can frequently be difficult to establish. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 04:17, 1 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
