Michael Phelps Foundation

edit

Articles of organizations on Wikipedia require notability established through significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject. While Michael Phelps is notable, notability is not automatically inherited by the organization subsequently established. A review of the references in the above referenced article, reveal that only two references meet this criteria. The majority of the citations provided fail significance, reliability, and independence as press releases, blogs, videos, and peripheral articles that barely mention the subject beyond one sentence, if even that. If you are not able to provide references beyond mere mention or references using press releases and blogs, I would recommend moving the article to a subpage of your userspace, where you can continue to work on the article until significant, independent, and reliable sources can be found. Anything less may result in deletion. Please let me know your thoughts. I am more than happy to answer any questions you may have. Best regards, Cind.amuse (Cindy) 21:40, 15 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Unblocked

edit

Use of multiple accounts by a single person is known as sockpuppetry and, while it may be permissible in restricted circumstance, is not allowed where the accounts edit in concert to promote a particular agenda or to give an impression of support from several people - for full explanation see WP:Sockpuppetry. When your account MichaelPhelpsFoundation (talk · contribs) was blocked because of its username, you were invited to set up another account which would represent only you, so that one new account was allowable, but technical means (WP:Checkuser) have confirmed that you set up several more accounts, all to post or edit versions of Michael Phelps Foundation. These were all blocked, as is normal practice, but in the circumstance this one has been unblocked: please edit only from this account in future.

Also, before editing in connection with the Michael Phelps Foundation, please read WP:Conflict of interest and WP:Best practices for editors with conflicts of interest. Wikipedia is extremely resistant to being used for promotion of any kind. A discussion at WP:Deletion review#11_August_2011 is taking place to decide what to do about the article.
