Welcome to Wikipedia!

Hello Jamestherage, welcome to Wikipedia!

I noticed nobody had said hi yet... Hi!

You might like some of these links and tips:

If you feel a change is needed, feel free to make it yourself! Wikipedia is a wiki, so anyone (yourself included) can edit any article by following the Edit this page link. Wikipedia convention is to be bold and not be afraid of making mistakes. If you're not sure how editing works, have a look at How to edit a page, or try out the Sandbox to test your editing skills.

If, for some reason, you are unable to fix a problem yourself, feel free to ask someone else to do it. Wikipedia has a vibrant community of contributors who have a wide range of skills and specialties, and many of them would be glad to help. As well as the wiki community pages there are IRC Channels, where you are more than welcome to ask for assistance.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask me on my talk page. Thanks and happy editing, Alf melmac 07:57, 14 September 2005 (UTC).Reply

WP:3RR and other problems

Hi, James, you've broken the Three Revert Rule. (In fact, you've more than broken it!) I'm not going to report you, and I hope nobody else does either, because that would be a bit ungracious when you're obviously a newcomer. We also have a rule saying Please do not bite the newcomers, and I'm sorry if your first experience is making you feel unwelcome. I just wanted to make sure that you're aware that you could be blocked if you continue to revert, and partial reverts also count. A block doesn't happen automatically; someone has to report it, and an administrator may decide to take no action in the case of first offences. Have a look at this page to see how it works. Maybe try editing a less controversial article, to get some Wikipedia experience, and then come back to Criticisms of Christianity. I made the mistake of spending most of my Wikipedia time on a controversial article, and I got (very slightly) bitten, but I survived, and I now make a point of not spending too much time on articles that I feel strongly about. Last night, I edited ten Agatha Christie articles! Wikiepedia can be frustrating, but when you click the edit box, there is a message underneath, saying If you do not want your writing to be edited mercilessly and redistributed at will, do not submit it.

I hope your experience in Wikipedia will be a little more pleasant than the beginning has been. I see you have already been "welcomed", in the message immediately above mine, so there's no need for me to do so. However, if you have any questions about your initial experience here, or indeed about any other Wikipedia problems, please feel free to leave a message on my talk page.
