Deadman Switch

The extant article is about deadman switches, safety devices which prevent accidents from happening in the event of inattention or, literally, in case someone dies at the switch. Humvee M996 edit

Hello JakkoWesterbeke; I reverted your M996 edit as the information provided in the section you deleted this from was all taken from the latest edition of Jane's Logistics, Support & Unmanned (2015-2016). I did not cite every line of this section, just the introductory text as I thought this would suffice, but it's entire contents save a couple of points are from this source, an internationally recognized source. If you cite from another source that the M996 was in fact produced, I see no reason why we could not add this conflicting information. Do you have a citable source? I used to have some contacts at AM General when I had a 'real job' so for completeness will see if I can get something more from the horses mouth on the subject...

I have half a dozen or so photos of M996 mini-ambulances in service with the US Army in Germany in the 90s: this one, for example, or this one. Compare them to this M997 and you can easily spot that the first two are lower, and must therefore be M996s. Jakko Westerbeke (talk) 22:18, 3 November 2015 (UTC)

They certainly do look like the M996. It is looking like Jane's have it wrong on this occasion, but let's wait and see what AM Gen say, if you don't mind. The photos are from the early ’90s — I didn’t take them (I bought them in a second-hand-bookstore), but they have printer’s stamps on the back in the range of about 1990–’94, off the top of my head, and some have definite dates written on them with a pen. If you check the photos on my Flickr page, the dates given with them there are either those written on the back, or my best guess based on the printer’s stamps. Made contact with AM Gen, and they are on the case. They're going through the entire Type Classified lists I gave them for all variants and will annotate accordingly. So hopefully, we'll get something concrete in the not-too-distant future.
