University Station (MTR) edit

Wouldn't it be better to have the code for obtaining station identifiers from Wikidata (and other things) in the infobox template instead? Jc86035 (talk) Use {{re|Jc86035}}
to reply to me

@Jc86035: The issue is that unlike zhwiki, enwiki does not have a specific MTR infobox. The station codes for MTR are stored in an MTR-specific property on Wikidata. So if we are to do an infobox-wide fetch from Wikidata, the infobox needs to first determine which railway system the station is from, then determine which property's data to fetch from. Wylve (talk) 10:01, 20 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Wylve: I guess before Module:Wikidata gets advanced enough that it can automatically pull (e.g.) all values for any subproperties of P296 station code then it's probably better to have the parser function in the article. Jc86035 (talk) Use {{re|Jc86035}}
to reply to me

@Jc86035: True. I am just experimenting anyway. I am trying to do the same on zhwiki, since they have a dedicated MTR box, and so far it is working. Wylve (talk) 10:23, 20 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
And there seems to be some opposition to using Wikidata on Wikipedia, so I am proceeding cautiously. Wylve (talk) 10:24, 20 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
