Sevastopol Zoo

edit

Hello and welcome. While it is clear you are trying to improve this article, things like "goals and objectives" make it sound like an advertisement, as if you're encouraging the reader to go to the zoo. This type of editing is prohibited on Wikipedia, as we want to simply state relevant facts and allow the reader interpret them how they will. See WP:SOAPBOX for more information. Furthermore, your article contains no sources. You should have reliable, secondary sources (not the official website) to support all the claims you make, see WP:REFBEGIN. Let me know if you need anymore help. I've added a welcome template below to help get you started with Wikipedia. Thanks — MusikAnimal talk 18:01, 1 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

Greetings. Thanks for warm welcome here. I appreciate all the advices given and help offered. So, I really need it. I am planning to add some more illustrated articles about parks and museums of Sevastopol in future, but first I should make this article viable. I've added one reference from the news site of Crimea. I would find some other references throughout the local press. Is this relevant if articles that would be referred are in Russian? Yours sincerely, Iskulikov 00:02, 7 November 2013 (UTC)
Citing non-English sources is allowed, but being the English Wikipedia, we obviously prefer an English source if you can find one of equal quality. I'd still argue that the bigger issue with Sevastopol Zoo is its tone. The History and Location sections look good, but as I said, the "Goals and Objectives" section sounds more like a slogan and doesn't supply much encyclopedic detail about the zoo, so I would consider removing it. It's also important to understand Wikipedia is not a guide, e.g. the rules of the park aren't of much value to a researcher, only to someone who is actually planning on visiting.
While lacking in sources, Kiev Zoo is a good example of an article about a zoo. It simply tells of the history of the establishment, the types animals that are there, etc. WP:NOTEVERYTHING is a lot to read, but it goes into detail about what we consider to be "encyclopedic." Hopefully this is of help to you! I realize it may be frustrating trying to get the concepts down at first, so don't be discouraged. — MusikAnimal talk 01:07, 7 November 2013 (UTC)Reply
