I was attempting to post an article and after reading all the fine details about restrictions, I made several errors, having my user-name and article name very similar in nature which caused a spam block which trigger an IP address block. I now believe all those issues are resolve.

So, before I attempt to re-post the article I thought it be best to receive any advice regarding verbiage.

Cheryl Cheryl.Peters (talk) 15:44, 9 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

I have read the piece, and if you post it in anything like the form it was previously it will be speedily deleted almost immediately as blatant advertising and failing to denote any importance of the subject. Wikipedia articles should be written from a neutral point of view. They should not be written by people who have a vested interest in the subject as you do. They must cite to already published, reliable sources which verify the content and show that the topic is notable. You appear to be here for the improper purpose of using our encyclopedia as a platform for advertising your business (regardless of what name your account is under). I advise you to find a cite where advertising is allowed and not attempt to further post this article here at all.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 16:49, 9 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

My only vested interest is for other individuals in the printing, publishing, packaging and advertising industry is to become aware of the history of the new technology that is now available and Integrated Color Solutions was a company that broke the ground with technology. I can track the history of the company and the to original founders of the technology if given the opportunity to do so.

Please help me understand as I am a bit perplexed after having had reviewed postings from companies like BMW and Kodak as research for posts this article and both seems to also have an air of marketing behind them, what makes this article so different?

Cheryl Cheryl.Peters (talk) 13:25, 10 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

There's probably nothing substantially different, except that those articles already exist, and you're trying to make a new one. There are lots of articles on Wikipedia that fall short of current standards - many were made years ago, when those standards were considerably lower. That's not a reason to add to the problem though - we're trying hard to fix all those articles. It would be better to check some of the current featured articles or good articles for ideas; those should, hopefully, be of a reasonable quality in terms of neutrality and referencing.
If you like, please come and talk to us live, with this or this - and the helpers might be able to explain things better in real-time.  Chzz  ►  23:40, 10 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Integrated Color Solutions Inc. edit

A tag has been placed on Integrated Color Solutions Inc., requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. August 2009 edit

Your account has been blocked from editing Wikipedia because it appears to be mainly intended or used for promotional purposes. Please read the following carefully.
Why can't I edit Wikipedia?

Because your account was used for promotion of a company, group, product or organization with a username that promotes or implies affiliation with the aforementioned. This includes, but is not limited to: adding spam links, creating promotional pages (this includes user pages), adding advertisements to existing articles, and adding promotional/favorable content about something you are affiliated with.

Use of Wikipedia for promotion of people, products, companies or other groups (even non-commercial or charitable ones) is considered Spam and is forbidden. Such actions will result in the blocking of the account involved. Please read Wikipedia:FAQ/Organization and Wikipedia:Conflict of interest for our policies about this.

In addition, user accounts are for individuals only, not for companies or groups or other collective editing. Your username should reflect this. Usernames that appear to be promotional (such as those that make reference to a company or product) violate our username policy and are typically blocked to enforce that policy.

What can I do now?

If you have no interest in writing about some other topic than your organization, group, company, or product, you will not be allowed to edit Wikipedia again. Consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.

If you do intend to make useful contributions about some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:

  • Add the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below this message box.
  • Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
  • Tell us what new username you want to use. Please make sure that your new username does not violate our username policy and check that it has not already been taken (click here to search).
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If instead you believe that you have been blocked by mistake (i.e., you have not in fact been using Wikipedia for promotional purposes), please write {{unblock|Your reason here}} below this message box and replace the text "Your reason here" with the reason why. See also Wikipedia:Appealing a block for more information. – B.hoteptalk• 22:06, 4 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Your request to be unblocked has been granted for the following reason(s):

Allowing username change to Cheryl.Peters (talk · contribs). Please put this request in at Wikipedia:Changing username as soon as possible to avoid re-blocking.

Request handled by: Closedmouth (talk) 17:04, 5 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Unblocking administrator: Please check for active autoblocks on this user after accepting the unblock request.

{{unblock-auto}}

Sorry, I can't find the autoblock on you. Can you cut and paste the block message? The information in it helps us find the autoblocks to release them. Sorry for the trouble. Syrthiss (talk) 18:43, 5 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

This is the prompt I get when I attempt to change my Username. Thus not allowing me access to the area that I need to change it in. Sorry for the difficulty

Cheryl

You are currently unable to edit pages on Wikipedia due to an autoblock affecting your IP address.

This is because someone using this internet address or shared proxy server was blocked. The ability of all users on this IP address to edit pages has been automatically suspended to prevent abuse by the blocked party. Innocent users are sometimes caught in an autoblock. It may be the case that you have done nothing wrong.

A user of this IP address was blocked by Bubba hotep for the following reason (see our blocking policy): Autoblocked because your IP address was recently used by "IntegratedColorSolutions". The reason given for IntegratedColorSolutions's block is: " Your account has been blocked from editing Wikipedia because it appears to be mainly intended or used for promotional purposes. • If you have been autoblocked as described, there should be a numerical code which is assigned to the autoblock OR an IP address. We need one of these two numbers to find the source of the problem and undo it. Can you find that code or IP address which should be reported to you in the block message?
