History of Prussia

Thanks for the book tip: I've heard good things about that one, but I still haven't gotten around to seeing it. If you are also interested in former states, perhapes you might be interested in checking out WP:WPFC (the Prussian WikiProject is largely my test project for things that are needed for WPFC).
No problem with the infobox - once the auto-categorisation is set up and the variables made available in both languages, then it should be finished. - 52 Pickup 15:54, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

Just importing everything from the German wiki "as is" will be fine for most fields, but some things will always need a bit of extra user input:

• The translation of some text fields that could never be automated (eg. Gliederung and Lageplanbeschreibung).
• The mayor entry is normally wikilinked - that should probably be undone. The template checks automatically for the presence of an entry with that name.
• One should also look out for any unusual wikilinking in the Partei field, particularly if a minor party is used.
• The extra information from Infobox Town DE should also be preserved: notably the source URL for the population data (the wikilinking from this URL should be removed)
• Add a representative photo of the location, if possible. If there is a good picture for this, it will probably be already on the page somewhere.
• And when/if the auto-categorisation works, the manual "Cities/Towns... in ..." categories at the bottom of the page should be deleted. This way, any false categorisations that are currently in place will be undone and corrected by the infobox.

If there is anything else that needs to be done, post it on the template talk page - we should probably come up with a set of instructions for those who want to import infobox data from the German wiki. - 52 Pickup 18:26, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

translation tag

There is a lot available, and I tend to forget most of it. In fact I was reminded that there is another template {tl|german}} which does a similar thing. Anyway it is placed on the bottom of the article, like the EB1911 or similar attribution tags. Agathoclea 18:58, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

Possible renaming of Wikipedia:WikiProject Saints

From the editor This is the first issue of WikiProject Germany's newsletter. The newsletter is intended to help all members of the project to keep up with new developments and coordinate new collaborative efforts.	Other areas where you can help Assessment requests: Some open Requests for assessment need to be answered. To see new assessment requests as they come in, you can watchlist the assessment page. More task forces and subprojects: As this WikiProject covers a very large topic area, it is helpful to add more task forces that focus on specific aspects of Germany. Currently, we have a Mainz task force, a Munich subproject and some joint task forces with other WikiProjects. Any project member is invited to start a new task force. Suggestions for possible topics: Transportation in Germany German politics (the political system of Germany and the biographies of its politicians) German Democratic Republic Be creative! Project news Criteria for B-Class status: The assessment criteria for B-Class have been changed. {{WikiProject Germany}} template now has 5 switches, B-Class-1 through B-Class-5 that correspond to 5 easily checked criteria that an article should meet to be assessed as B-Class. The advantage of this system is that now there is a clear boundary between Start-Class and B-Class articles. Authors of articles that were assessed as Start-Class now get more direct feedback what they should improve to attain a B-Class rating. All of our B-Class, Start-Class and Stub-Class articles now need to be checked whether they meet any of the B-Class criteria. This is a major effort, and we need your help! If you want to help, but don't know how, please post at the project talkpage. Cities and municipalities task force A task force dedicated to creating and improving articles on all German cities and municipalities has been started and is looking for help.

Bertrada of Prüm

The only reference to her as child of Hugobert that I've seen is the Hugobert Wikipedia article, which led me to believe it to be incorrect. However, I have misgivings about the decision at this point so I will revert it Furius 05:41, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
