Can you translate Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars to the same wiki as the Brawl one you did? Regards, « ₣M₣ » 22:39, 19 February 2010 (UTC)

Latin article

edit

Hello. Nice to hear from you. I'm going to play Perseus and hold up a mirror to your question. What changes CAN you make? What is your your level of skill in 1) WP editing 2) Latin language? If you are going to tell me you don't know any Latin, forget it as far as content is concerned. Work on some language you do have some knowledge of. Now, you have little history on your user pages, either because you have none or you have hidden it. If you were a new user we would expect to see a welcoming message. So, you puzzle me. For the article, I went over it previously only lightly. When I saw it, the article was a total fairy tale written by non-Latinists. I removed the fairy stories but then I left the article. I don't plan to get back immediately. I would say, let's fix what is there first, then we may think about possible new sections. When I say "let's fix" that depends on what you can do. I would start, and I always do start, with the links and references. I can see right now that they are not properly formatted. For one thing, we are not interested in editor evaluation of an external link. We only put the link with proper name, title, etc. Everything has to be relevant, in proper format, no advertising, no propaganda, no editorial opinions, no material below encyclopedic level (that in practice is very flexible however). So, this is what I say. Fix the refs and links first. If you are a bit short on the experience side and can't do that off the top of your head, let me know. I will give you some links to the relevant WP help sections. Rome was not built in a day, you know. The educational experience would be good for you. For the tags- might as well leave them on. If the article needs work we and public want to know. See you.Dave (talk) 11:50, 19 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Fine, fine. Don't take it so seriously. No big deal. It would have been more serious if you had got nasty and insistent. I guess you are a new user. There is an official welcoming banner and someone ought to put it in. Meanwhile let me take this opportunity to welcome you to WP. By the time I got welcomed I already had an article deleted and a bunch of nasty messages from the then big men. You'll get over it. I stumbled around on here for quite a long time before I stopped getting nasty messages. For some reason writing is one area people are very sensitive about. Looks like you are baptized, so to speak, now. Sometimes WP is not a very nice place, especially when the advertisers and propagandists are determined to drive you off their article. All I can say is, I have got a lot of fun and meaning out of this for a few years. I hope you persist. Be assured, whatever you decide to do I for one will give it every chance. The see also did need to be weeded out, but in my opinion not removed. For good queen bess, I'm letting it go for now. It is only an example. Maybe I'll put it back, maybe not. There are more important fixes due. A troubled article is like an erratic animal in a coral reef, it attracts the attention of every predator in sight. I guess people think, if it is so bad, vandalism is not going to hurt it any. In some cases they are right, but WP requires sincerity and it is not sincere not to try and help but to make it worse. The downward slide on this article stops right now! By the way I think I actually am on the Latin committee. No need to apologize but I for one accept it. For the see also, I will just keep plugging through the list now on the discussion page and what is left will go in. For now what's there can stay. The more you know about formatting the less painful this is going to be for you. On the main page just click on the help icons and get into the editing manual. I got to go now.
